This 1969 Dodge Charger is barn-find gold. Well, it’s gold, and it is in a barn, but it needs a lot of work to get it to be a true gem again. With no reserve, it’s been bid up to $6,300 by 45 bidders. This Charger is currently located in Holden, Missouri and you can find it here on eBay.
While the odometer says 99,801 miles, there is no engine actually installed. The 383 cubic-inch is sitting on the floor of the building that houses this Charger. The engine does not look complete either, so nothing about this car will be getting up and going anytime soon. There does not appear to be transmission in the car either. You MOPAR experts out there can tell us by the tags and VIN provided what should be in this car.
The inside of this car is an absolute wreck. Nothing is in its proper place, there’s dust and dirt everywhere, and you can see in some of the photos that there are huge holes in the floors. Apparently a common problem with Chargers, according to the seller, is the rusted frame rails. They do say this car is in need of work on that aspect of the car. At this point, the car is a blank slate. If you are not interested in keeping it original, then don’t. Modifications would be welcomed at this point.
It is hard to say that this car could even be used for parts. A lot of the panels are in rough shape and there is not much salvageable. You can see in one of the photos that another vehicle, most likely another MOPAR is in just as rough condition as this Charger. The wheels and tires are probably the only pieces of the car that are in good, working condition. Hopefully, someone will buy this car and do something awesome with it. Otherwise, it just might end up becoming dust.
We’ve seen worse on mopes before compared to this one.
The eBay comment says typical sheet metal replacement and work on rails. It would be good to see the rails.
If the engine block numbers match rebuild if not replace and sell engine for cash.
Put a manual transmission in it…
The grill looks good as hidden headlights and trunk plus roof. Find dash glove box and parts.. Install new skins and pans interior kit plus rails if you can weld ..

I have rebuilt worse but parts for this model is very much gold priced too…
This is an expensive car to restore. Replacing the sheet metal is just the beginning in a long road to restore this car. I like 68-69 chargers but I’m sure glad I don’t need to have one.

The car next to it kind of looks like a 69 Charger 500 or Daytona! I was comparing the front clip and roof line of the two cars and they look the same from what I could see. The back window in the other one is flush, a key element in those hand massaged beauties! What do you other Mopar guys think?
Yep, the other Charger IS a Charger 500. Besides the flush mounted rear glass you noted, you can see in the picture of the right front corner grill area that the headlights are nearly flush with the leading edge of the fender/hood.
Nope, I stand corrected. I went to eBay and looked at the other photos. In one of them, you can see the side scoop only on the 1970 Plymouth. Didn’t know they looked so similar, structurally!

Serial is a 70 plain Charger. Engine on floor, 440. Car beside it, a 70 Plymouth
Fender plate is a 69 Charger. Serial number plate is a 70 Charger. Yes, 68 seats.
