Harley-Davidson formed its Custom Vehicle Operation, or CVO, twenty-five years ago to produce limited edition motorcycles that came from the dealership with the appearance and performance of a custom machine. The attention to detail is astonishing, helping classics like this 2007 CVO Road King to stand out from the crowd. From the stunning paint to the sparkling chrome and alloy components, the success of the CVO program continues to turn out machines to which many aspire. This Road King is a survivor that needs nothing but a new home. With that thought in mind, the owner has decided to list the Harley with us at Barn Finds Auctions.

Harley-Davidson launched the CVO Road King in 2007, making this a first-year example. It found ready acceptance in the market, with the company quoting a production total of 3,500. This machine features Black Ice paint with Pewter Leaf graphics on the tank and fenders. The swooping flames are also embossed into the seat and pannier leather to create a “total” look. Other distinctive features of the Road King include the color-matched frame, beautiful Road Winder forged aluminum wheels, the wide rear fender, flush-mounted gas cap, colored swingarm, a medium-sized windscreen, and the tombstone taillight. Finding anything to fault with this Harley’s presentation is seemingly impossible. This is unsurprising since the odometer shows a genuine 869 miles. The paint shines beautifully, the sparkling chrome and polished aluminum components contrast the dark paint, the unique wheels appear immaculate, and the windscreen is clear.

The 2007 Road King features an iconic Harley-Davidson V-Twin engine which offers impressive performance. This 110ci (1,800cc) fuel-injected twin-cam beast sends 115 ft/lbs of torque to the 17″ rear wheel via a six-speed transmission and a traditional Harley belt drive. The engine features levels of polished alloy and chrome typically reserved for custom machines, including a round air cleaner cover with custom inserts. However, these aren’t custom items, but were fitted by CVO. The Road King is a heavy machine focused on touring, but the silky smooth torque delivery makes this motorcycle feel far lighter and more agile than the scales suggest. If your heart’s desire is long-distance adventures with the wind in your face, the Road King can deliver. Harley-Davidson enjoys a well-earned reputation for producing machines that can operate reliably for many decades. Therefore, with this Road King featuring such a low odometer reading, it could offer the winning bidder a lifetime of enjoyable and reliable riding pleasure.

Harley-Davidson expanded its CVO range to four in 2007, with the Springer Softtail and Dyna considered “cruisers.” However, for those intent on seeing the country from one end to the other, the Road King and Electra Glide were the ideal machines for clocking thousands of miles. The seats for both the operator and passenger are enormously comfortable, featuring removable backrests to relieve fatigue. The foot controls are set further back than on the Softtail and Dyna, improving operator comfort so that the miles roll easily and effortlessly under the tires. Once again, the seats, panniers, and controls are as spotless as the rest of the vehicle, with the lack of use meaning there is no wear or other issues deserving criticism.

Owning a Harley-Davidson is different from any other motorcycling experience because Harley owners are part of a unique “community” that will support each other in virtually any situation. That is increasingly rare in modern society and is reassuring if the new owner of this 2007 CVO Road King decides to hit the road for a life of adventure. It means that even if they are flying solo, they will never really be alone. The overall condition of this machine would allow it to sit happily back in a Harley showroom, but it doesn’t deserve that. It was created to be ridden and enjoyed, and this is your chance to make that dream a reality. That makes this gem worth more than a passing glance.

They ride either the police edition Road King or the Electra Glide. City departments mostly use the RK while highway departments use the EG. Thought, that’s not a hard and fast rule.

You are correct Stan, Lawmen ride the RK police edition models as these touring models are extremely well balanced. I purchased a new 06 RK Classic, with the big whitewalls and leather bags. When HD unveiled the new touring models in 09 with larger rear tire and extra length, I had to have one and purchased a new Roadglide. 16 years later I am still riding that bike. I hope the seller doesn’t receive all the HD hate mail that I did when I sold my black 2003 100th Anniversary Fatboy on here last year. I was berated for owning a HD by several people here….doesn’t matter, still got my asking price!

Seems to me those particular Twin Cam engines needed a cam chain tensioner modification or they’d end up self-destructing. Otherwise, they are great bikes, CVO or not.

I replaced the tensioners in my 2001 EG Classic at 60K miles. The mechanic told me I had dodged a very expensive bullet. The tensioners were completely worn out. In the 13 years I owned the motorcycle, I replaced the cam and crankshaft position sensors and the cam tensioners. That was all except for normal maintenance items. I sold it in 2013 for $6000. It had 85K on the odometer.

I really want to get in on this one, but am having so much trouble posting comments. The temptation is strong with this one. I can’t understand how anyone can say America isn’t great, when we produced bikes like this,,,IN MY HOMETOWN, I must add. It’s big and bold and black and chrome, sounds like a Springsteen song, and it should. He sang about America, and it’s still great. Eat your heart out, Zundapp.
Ah, but things aren’t well in Harleytown. I read, H-D sales are down a whopping 53% from 2023. Ouch. That hurts and I predict we will see an end to this great American institution. Obviously, anyone that wants a Harley, already has one, and there are a LOT of these coming up? Why? Yep, that’s right, owners are passing on, or like me, can’t ride, and a glut of Harleys is the result. I mentioned on the Honda post, a clean 90s Electra Glide was for sale 2 towns over, $4,000, $3500( or trade for Jeep) would have got it.
In lieu of all that, I have one piece of advice for anyone bored with life or on the “last lap”. Grab one of these, and head into the sunset,,,Amen.

Thanks Howard for those nice words about HD’s. There were a lot of them, and still are, that went up for sale from 08 and back when the bigger frames and rear tire width was released in 09. It is a totally different ride in comparison. Another problem HD is experiencing at the moment is the German CEO from Puma, who is…”scratching head and don’t really know how to say this” I guess non conservative would be most correct these days. That has rubbed alotta old schoolers the wrong way. They are now in damage control and have revoked their DEI initiative. Word around the crowd is he’s likely gonna get canned in the next few days. HD’s will always be around I hope and surely they can get back on track with a more “sensitive to to the brand” boss man. I have no other choice considering my last name is Davidson. I don’t ride as often as I once did and sit in the garage with a cold one and look at it often. A couple times a month out a winder in the country is it for me now.

      Ride On Howard… 😎
      Shocking sales decline for HD.
And I hear ya too. BF is a favorite web page, but lately some glitches are running amok, and of course the long mystery of the all important thumbs up 👍 remains. Hopefully the good folks at BF can tune it up 🔧

The only thing I would worry about on this beautiful bike is the chrome. H-D’s chrome quality is not the best and it’s a Florida bike with salt in the air. Plus, factor in tires as these are dated out.

Still have my 1980 FLHS shovel head that I bought new. Nothing sounds better than a Harley other than a bbc with some bumpity bump.

Pictured is my 06RK when living on Amelia Island, taken around 08. Lived a block from the beach, kept everything clean and never had a problem with rust. Would also love to have all those back, the SS Silverado and Fatboy!

Can’t believe this RK CVO hasn’t sold yet for what the seller is asking. A beautiful low mile beauty.

Okay all know here in America us old boys love Harley for the ride, looks, speed, and its durability. They have been with us for a long time and they get the company growth with the love of owning something that is extremely popular and loved by many. It has the ability to be changed and modified while maintaining looks people love and enjoy. HD is the word and will be for years to come.

If the shown milage is correct, this bike is worthy of a professional detailing and a lot more and better pictures prior to be offered for sale. I wouldn’t even start this one without first cleaning the tank and fuel system. Then there’s the cam chain and tires to be addressed… Lot’s of nice potential but some moneys going to have to be spent on it first to get it. It’s a shame the market is so far down on Harleys. 5 or 6 years ago people would have beat a path to the door for this bike for $10 G’s plus.

So, you think, cam and chain driving the cam automatic replace on this bike?

FYI, The Harley was stored inside for 15years and was just brought to Florida about 1 year ago, at that time all fluids tank battery tune up and seals replaced as needed. The milage is original approximately 50 miles have been put on in the past year. The bike has been detailed although could use a more intense job. The tires are original and need to be addressed.
