Behind The Barn: 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge

1969 Pontiac GTO Judge

This poor GTO Judge wasn’t parked in the barn, it was left out behind it. Sadly, that means it has lots of rust, lots and lots of it! I don’t thin there is a single panel that hasn’t been hit by the tin worm. It is also missing its engine and transmission. Being a Judge, I’m sure someone will save it for the right price. You can find it here on eBay in Rochester, New York with bidding just over $4k and no reserve.

1969 Pontiac GTO Interior

The seller states that their Judge needs everything and I’d have to agree with them. Besides needing rust repair on just about every inch, it will need a complete interior, an engine and a 4 speed, plus all the systems that are here will need to be restored.

1969 Pontiac GTO

I’ve always like these GTO Judges, but this one might be a bit too rough for my taste. I do like that it was optioned with a 4 speed! So do you think this one is worth restoring or is the next owner just buying the VIN and paperwork?

Is the VIN plate still solid? Other than that, and perhaps the glass and a few trim pieces, I don’t see much value here.

    $4K and rising? I don’t get it.

I could see if it was a Ram air III or IV car, but dang, it needs way too much to make it worthwhile…

Who ever wins this will have the seller just ship them the VIN plates. Then push the rusted hulk back behind the barn.How/why do people do this to cars???

The seller is totally in another world to ask that price. I sold my ’70 Dodge Coronet for $5500 in 2009, & it did have cracking bodywork & rust coming through, but it was clean, & driveable.

The seller isn’t asking any specific price for it. It’s bid to that level with no reserve. Sad to see this happen to a car.

😒ahh…. there is a big difference between a ’70 Coronet and this ’69 Judge.

Not really an apples to apples comparison.

What you see you pay for; what you don’t see will BK you!

My first reaction is the same as first comment above – VIN hi-jacking (so to speak)

Maybe a candidate for a Pontiac LeMans clone?

Might make a good circle track car if the metal can be all patched up

You can swap the VIN tags but isn’t the VIN also stamped on the frame?

I believe you are correct and possibly on the cowl behind the heater box. I’ll probably get chastised but not everything has to be a 100 point for profit restore. I could see this in the hands of someone tackling it just because…and get some mig welding practice.

My initial thought is that Judge was 6 feet under the barn. POS is right. As others have stated VIN hijacking in the works.

Don’t feel too bad for this Judge, somebody put ‘er through the paces. Just another case of, ” hey Pa, we got Billy’s old Judge behind the barn, just like in that fancy TV auction show”,,, I’d think there are plenty to choose from, without pissing away $100K on this one. Nice try, though.

The VIN plate is going to end up on some dude’s Tempest. Look for a new “Judge” coming to an eBay auction soon

Nice barn though. If da Judge had to be parked outside, I would be curios to see what is inside.

Those VIN tags would likely turn to dust if you tried to remove them. I don’t think I’ve seen a rustier dash short of a lake find. We can’t save them all Nor should we. I say crunch it tags and all. After all isn’t that how cars become rare the POS ‘s get crushed and the suvivers become more valuable?

This guy sells cars all the time. This is not from that barn and he’s probably a dealer. Just saying and I live in Rochester so I speak from experience of seeing that barn all the time in photos so he’s either a dealer or a contractor who finds these on job sites!!
