A show of hands for those of you who remember owning or riding in vehicles with vent windows? Ah, I thought so, most of you. The 1954 Chevrolet Advance Design 3100 pickup not only had vent windows, but it was the first year for a one-piece curved windshield. Modern indeed. Both features can be seen in this incredible 5-window restomod. This truck is located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and is listed here as a Barn Finds Auction!

Chevy’s Advance Design may look vintage today, but when it debuted, it was almost like going to the moon compared to the WWII-era AK-Series trucks. The sleek, rounded design was much more modern, despite there not being a “fleetside”-type truck: they were all fenderside, or stepside boxes or beds in this generation. The next in line, the Task Force trucks, would be available with either a Fleetside or Stepside bed.

The Advance Design pickups were available from 1947 through 1955, and as you can see in the many photos the seller has provided, this one appears to be a gem. It blends the classic look of a 1950s Chevy truck with thorough modernization inside and out. The bed would have originally been wood, and this one retains that beautiful material, but it has been redone, as a lot of finishes and features have been on this truck. You can see three of the five windows in the rear view above. A 5-window cab is quite a desirable feature, and this truck has it.

This is not a 1950s pickup inside, at least in terms of materials. Pickup owners in 1954 would have fainted to see such a luxurious interior as this, with beautiful seats and door panels, a custom tilt steering wheel, custom gauges, and air-conditioning vents for the modern AC system installed. It isn’t just the parts you can see that have been modernized or upgraded; the underside and frame have been completely undercoated, according to the seller’s listing, and they have photos to prove it. Please check out the photo gallery to see all of the images of this gorgeous truck.

Speaking of an upgrade, this one is fitted with a 5.7-liter OHV V8, power steering, power brakes, and a modern air compressor. We don’t know the specs, but with the Holley 4-barrel carb, I’m assuming it’s around 300 horsepower, give or take? The engine is backed by a GM 700R4 four-speed overdrive automatic transmission sending power to the rear wheels. Owning a truck like this with power steering and power brakes would be mind-blowing enough, but to have air-conditioning is the cherry on top. Please read the seller’s description to see the amount of work that’s been done on this beautiful 3100 pickup, and get your bids in on this gem here as a Barn Finds Auction!

Wow talk about checking all the right boxes! Cosmetically and mechanically, you won’t find one nicer than this. A great restomod to be sure! I like these trucks, having once owned a ’51 5-window 3800.
