The added jalousie windows on the two side doors are a nice touch for this otherwise mostly-windowless 1963 Chevrolet Corvair 95 Corvan. The base Corvair “95” vans (named for the 95-inch wheelbase) were cargo vans, and a step up would have been window vans called the Greenbrier Sports Wagon. This example is located in Corona, California, and is listed here as a Barn Finds Auction!

The seller refers to this Corvair 95 Corvan cargo van as “Frank” and says it was from Georgia, where it belonged to a company that made and delivered pies, and then it moved to San Diego, which is where they got it. Chevrolet made the Corvair van for the 1961 through 1965 model years, and they’re super interesting, having a rear engine along with rear-wheel drive and a cab-forward design. Georgia doesn’t require titles for vehicles this old, and the seller has the Bill of Sale, but check with your local DMV to find out what the process will be for getting it titled.

This Corvair would make a great camping van since it doesn’t have any rear windows on the driver’s side and already has some operable windows on the two cargo-side doors on the passenger side. Chevy offered a factory camping version for around $500. There was also a Corvair 95 pickup version known as either the Loadside or Rampside, depending on the location of the tailgate (rear) or the loading ramp (side). This 95 van, cosmetically, appears a little rougher than it probably is due to paint issues.

Interesting tropical seat fabric fits right in for coastal Georgia or San Diego. The front seat appears to be the only seating available in this cargo van, which isn’t surprising since it is, you know, a cargo van. The cargo space behind the front seat looks like it would haul a lot of pies or whatever is on your list. I’d have a few small motorcycles back there, for sure. The seller lists this one as having a four-speed manual, which was optional and quite desirable.

The engine is in the rear, where it should be on Corvairs. In this case, it’s hidden under a raised portion of the cargo area with space on top to haul more pies. It’s Chevrolet’s unique 145-cu.in. OHV flat-six with 80 horsepower. The seller gives this outstanding news on the operating condition and the new parts. They say it starts, runs, idles, steers, shifts, and stops as designed, and new parts include a fuel tank, fuel pump, brakes, and tires mounted on freshly powder-coated rims. Everything electrical is said to work as it should, including all lights, gauges, and the speedometer. This looks like a winner; just do some exterior freshening up and use it for advertising or for actual hauling as intended.

Kind of curious that it’s a cargo van, but it has the vented windows, like it was once used as a camper.

Wow, I was actually the previous owner of this van when it was in San Diego. Crazy finding this.

Good morning Bob, the good part about those windows is that that those doors can be replaced. I actually looked into doing that and Jeff at California Corvairs has plenty of doors available for $200.00. Thankfully the rest of the van is straight and solid and mechanically it’s in really really great shape. I’m not sure about the legality of the windows as it was like that when I got it.

I sure hope the jalousie windows don’t fall out when you hit a bump . The ones in my house fall out all the time, because of corroded aluminum frames and clips

The clips and frames are in good condition ( no corrosion ) and the glass is very secure.
