Enthusiasts of unique fiberglass specials and Volkswagen-powered sports cars will want to take a close look at this 1967 La Dawri Sebring Roadster, now offered exclusively through Barn Finds Auctions. Showing just 5,630 miles and presented with a clean California title, this Sebring is an exceptionally well-built example that stands out for its quality, condition, and striking presence.
La Dawri was a California-based company known for producing stylish fiberglass sports car bodies in the 1950s and 1960s. The Sebring model, introduced in the mid-1960s, offered sleek lines draped over proven Volkswagen underpinnings, creating a lightweight roadster with both style and simplicity. Many La Dawri bodies were sold as kits, but this example appears to have been constructed to an unusually high standard, with the seller noting its fit and finish exceed most homebuilt cars, suggesting it may have been a showroom model.

Underneath, this Sebring rides on a Volkswagen chassis with a 1600cc engine and manual transmission. Recent servicing included fresh dual carburetors, ensuring smooth performance, and the car also benefits from disc brakes, a rare and welcome upgrade on a lightweight roadster. The seller highlights the installation of Scat adjustable pedals and attractive Porsche “Range Top” wheels, further elevating its driving experience and visual appeal.
The drivetrain setup makes the Sebring both approachable and fun, with reliable VW mechanicals that are inexpensive to maintain and well-supported in the enthusiast community. The seller reports the car runs and drives great, with a super clean underside that reflects careful ownership and garage storage at a Southern California beach house.

Inside, the cockpit is simple but functional, capturing the minimalist sports car feel. The seller notes the car does not currently have turn signals, meaning the next owner will either use hand signals or perform a straightforward Volkswagen upgrade.

Presented in excellent condition throughout, this Sebring is already registered, tagged, and insured in California, ready for immediate enjoyment. Its rarity, build quality, and attractive presentation make it a standout among fiberglass-bodied specials, and it’s sure to draw attention at shows, cars-and-coffee events, or just cruising along the coast.
Opportunities to acquire a La Dawri Sebring in this condition are few and far between. Don’t miss the chance to add this rare and stylish roadster to your collection.

A beauty. Would make a fun and economical almost daily runabout but no turn signals would cause an issue for registration here in Quebec. Although.any good electrical shop worth it’s salt should be able to fix that up easy.
Look at that tiny door opening! I might be able to get in, but one drive-through binge and I’d be stuck in there.
My knees ache just looking at that door opening.
As a Devin owner at one time, I am intrigued with this body shape. This is the first I have ever seen of this car make. I have other custom builds in the mix right now that could certainly use this windshield. Anybody knows what vehicle it came from? I will Google the name and see if I can find out.
Looks like C1 Corvette
The LaDawris used a 1958-59 GM truck windshield mounted upside down.
My 57 La Dawri conquest windshield is early Chev pick up upside down, have numbers in kit paper work from La Dawri. Has HJ frame and drive train still drive very often.
Very pretty car! Missing windshield trim on the driver’s side, though.
Looking at the engine bay, I am a little concerned. I see remnants of the original VW body. So, I’d have to guess that the rest of the Devin body is somehow attached to the bug body. Not saying its bad, but it’s certainly different.
First time I have seen that as well. Looks like they glassed the rear fenders in as a support. While it’s a visual heritage clue to you and I, most people miss it.
Those are Mahle wheels for 914s ’73-76. Never heard of them being called range top. There’s a 5 bolt Mahle wheel for 914-6 & 911 called a gas burner.
Dang! That was it! Gas Burner not range top. Lol, thanks for the correction.
