Even finding a four-door ’70s car tucked away in a barn or garage can be exhilarating, but finding a ’70s muscle car—well, that’s the dream. So when BF reader Luther found this 1970 Ford Torino GT Fastback hiding in a garage, he had to have it! A ton of work has been done to get it back on the road, and it’s ready to enjoy, but he’s decided to let someone new enjoy this garage find. It’s being offered here as a BF Auction, so check it out and cast your high bids below.
The Torino was initially a trim level for the Fairlane, but it proved so popular that Ford made it its own model and eventually their primary intermediate-sized offering. This line-up change occurred when the second generation Torino debuted in 1970. The redesigned Torino featured styling supposedly inspired by supersonic aircraft. It certainly is angular and fast-looking.
There was a wide range of engine options in 1970. This example received the 220 horsepower 302 V8. While not the most powerful option, it’s a nice balance of performance and driveability. The engine was rebuilt about 500 miles ago, and it received a Procomp cam, a new Edelbrock carburetor, a starter, an alternator, and a distributor. The transmission and rear end were both also rebuilt, along with the suspension and steering components. An aluminum double-core radiator was installed to keep things cool. The fuel system has been fully sorted with a new tank and lines. New exhaust headers were installed with a new dual exhaust system all the way back with black tips. The engine still isn’t fully broken in, so it will need to be driven more, and then the carb should be adjusted for optimal performance. The front and rear brakes have also been rebuilt, and new brake lines have been installed.
Getting the interior usable again didn’t take much work. A high-end carpet set was installed, but the interior is otherwise original. It presents well and suggests that this car was cared for throughout its life. The biggest flaw we see is the discolored gauge cluster, but it could be restored, replaced, or left as is. The seller notes that the driver’s side outside door mirror adjust prong is broken, and the factory A/C system isn’t working. Replacement parts are readily available to make this interior perfect, but it looks good as is.
This GT is super solid, having spent most of its life in Arizona. The body is straight, and the paint shines nicely. The seller has included a new chrome front bumper. A considerable amount of money has gone into getting it back on the road where it belongs. All it needs is an owner who can finish breaking the engine in and then enjoy it! The seller says, “This GT is authentic, sounds incredible, and is ready for shows.” It certainly looks great in the photos, which the seller has provided plenty of, and sounds fantastic in their video. If you’d love to give this garage find a good home, be sure to bid. And if you have any questions for the seller, please leave them in the comment section.

Luther- you’ve got quite the collection of classics and your presentation has been top-notch. Thorough descriptions, tons of pictures and videos.
This is quite the tempting Torino, even if it’s missing a 351 or 429 engine option.
Great color for this car!
I have a 68 Torino GT with a 428 in it. Really like the looks of this one, beautiful color. But the 302 and bench seat are a no go for me. Otherwise a stylish and great alternative to the Chevelles running around.
Nice looking example. The 302 will keep the price within our atmosphere and make someone a happy driver.
Bench seats are for guys that like having their wife or girlfriend sitting close to them. Bucket seats are for the single guys. 🤣
Bruce, I believe you have it backwards benches are for single guys to have their girl close once married buckets keep the wife at bay. LOL 😝
Just kidding dear
I always preferred buckets and a stick
Beautiful 70 Torino, but rather get a 351 version with working AC. But at least, seller has spent some coin getting her back to this condition. Be interested in seeing what price it sells for in this auction.
I don’t see any evidence of any AC components. No brackets, hoses, drier Etc. Not sure if it was an AC car. Not working is an understatement.
What a beauty! Who cares about the A.C. not complete, if you know these cars you can see the A/C dash venting is there- throw in a couple components and your there ;-) What I like is the originality and its not plagued by previous knuckelheads putting their mods on it. Serious money into this thing for sure. Love it, nice find ;-)
Nice example…..
Brings back memories Luther, my neighbor had one like it when I was growing up. Would it be possible to look at it in person?
I can’t believe the price is only up to $1500. Maybe the 302, bench seat and no AC has something to do with that. Still, the seller has done extensive and important work on this Torino, that the next owner won’t have to worry about doing himself.
Things are just beginning here. Im sure this beauty is going to turn in a fantastic number! Sitting back and waiting to strike is half the fun of these auctions I’ve enjoyed watching ;-)
My old hs buddy and I had matching ’70 Torino 429cj’s, C6, bench seats, and louvered rear window option (his). His was the coral color & mine yellow, both with blacked-out hoods and shakers. Fast-forward 50 yrs, he found a GT like this 302 and won a few shows with it and I’m satisfied with my ’03 911/996 twin-turbo but I’m still an old-school muscle guy! p.s. We liked our drive-ins back in hs so the bench seats were a must! lol
Still a most handsome automobile.
It’s been a couple of decades since a 70-71 Torino GT in this condition was selling for $6,000.

Thats very true Steve R ;-) Base models start around $28K up to sky is the limit. Easy to do a classic value search and see–but hey, folks can dream, but best to just plan and do the research. I love this car ;-)
Van, you are right. But it’s easier for someone to complain than spend 5 minutes doing research.
The biggest problem with the guys comment is.
1). The cars current high bid of $10,000 is still under market.
2). He did it to someone who paid to advertise their car on this site rather than a random car feature taken from another platform, where that sort of uninformed comment will have no impact.
Steve R
You are funny.

I have a original 71 gt conv. Needs attention I would definitely bid on this one if my garage had a open spot!!!
ode 351C-4V 300 HP version Torino GT, these were a cool alternative to the Chevelle SS and looked great! I added a rear spoiler and louvers and side exhaust for a NASCAR look.JBD
