This 1975 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is up for auction now on Barn Finds, located in Richmond, Texas. Showing 58,809 miles, this L48-powered car features a 4-speed automatic transmission and comes with a clean title. The seller states that it was originally purchased as a restoration project and has been garage-kept for approximately ten years, driven only occasionally during that time. It’s now being offered to the next owner as a running project with solid potential.

According to the seller, the 350 cubic-inch L48 V8 is in good working condition and has recently received a new battery. The starter cable has been disconnected and will need replacement before the car can be started again. The seller also notes that the fiberglass on the front passenger side has a crack that was patch-repaired, while the rest of the body is described as being in good condition. There’s some minor surface rust on the cooling fan and undercarriage, but nothing the seller considers serious.

The chrome trim, including bumpers and brightwork, is reported to be in good overall condition, with no pitting or flaking, except on the trunk luggage rack. The car’s leather seats are reported to be in good shape as well. While the seller doesn’t mention recent mechanical upgrades, the car appears mostly complete and unmodified, suggesting a solid starting point for a restoration or careful recommissioning.

By 1975, the Corvette had transitioned from raw muscle to a more refined sports car, yet the L48 V8 still produced 165 horsepower, plenty for cruising with the unmistakable Stingray shape and a 4-speed manual gearbox to keep things engaging. These mid-’70s models have grown in appreciation among collectors who want an affordable entry into classic Corvette ownership without the high costs of earlier chrome-bumper cars.

The seller invites potential buyers to let them know if you need more photos or additional details about the car’s history. With its matching drivetrain and a clean title, this Stingray looks like a solid project for someone who wants to take on a manageable restoration. Would you keep this one original and sort it out mechanically, or give it a full cosmetic restoration back to showroom glory?

Probably not a 4 speed automatic either – sure looks like it is a 3 speed auto. to me.

You would have to wait until 1981 to get the 4 speed automatic.

Probably the low point for Corvette. Plus it’s an automatic.

Even though this car may not have collectable value, because it is a 1975; it is smog exempt here in California. A 350hp crate motor and a Tremec 5 speed will really wake up this ride. I don’t think that this auction will go north of $4k, so it could be a good buy. The body work and paint will cost a bit, but when completed the new owner will have a fun ride with above average value.

I dunno, looks like a lot more rust than described (how do the screws inside the speedo get rusty?). IMHO, this looks like a flood car.

Looks a bit more “tired” than the write-up suggests. The transmission is a three speed Turbo 400…unless someone put in something else but kept the original shifter. The rear bumper cap with the one-piece Corvette logo is from ’76 onwards… Looks like it is very close to needing–at least cosmetically–a complete restoration.

I have a ’75 Corvette, also Classic White but with a black deluxe interior that I’ve owned it for 32 years. Mine is an L82 4(now 5) speed with 80K miles. Much as I personally love the C3 Corvettes, and the ’75s in particular, this one looks like it needs an awful lot. Most concerning to me would be the rust in places that one doesn’t expect to find it, like in the instruments, fan blades, brake booster, rear compartments, among other spots. Examination of structural components, like the birdcage, would really be wise here.

I hate to say it but by 1975 stock Corvettes were dog city. Of course if you can get one cheap, rip out the wimpy mill and get an LS, Tremec, tall positraction rear, and go to town.

With the introduction of the pellet converter and Y-pipe system the ’75 Corvettes took a big performance hit. But the chassis remained the same so putting in a true dual system is easy. And both the L48 and L82 are SBCs so, as long as the bottom end is solid, you can build them to be pretty much whatever you want. High performance heads, intake, exhaust, etc. are plentiful and cheap by comparison with pretty much any other engine. There are Tremecs that are a bolt-in (I have one in mine) and I believe all ’75 Corvettes have Positraction.

I’m with PairsNPaint on this one ~ it looks like it’s been a submarine. Also, 58,000 miles? The wear on the driver’s seat says 158,000.

I would say that this appears to be a fairly complete unit that is worthy of a good restoration. It’s too bad the repaint was not done correctly. There’s some evidence of it being stored in a high moisture environment. So if the main frame is not seriously rusty this would be a good unit for a daily driver. Or to just have fun with…
