Up for grabs as a Barn Finds Auction is this striking 1985 GMC C2500, a custom show truck that blends ’80s mini-truck flair with big-block American presence. Currently located in Urbana, Ohio, and showing just 22,899 miles, this one-owner-style square-body pickup is loaded with unique touches that make it a true attention magnet. The seller notes it’s powered by a 350 V8 mated to an automatic transmission, with a clean title in hand and a reserve set for the auction.

From first glance, it’s clear this isn’t your average workhorse. The two-tone brown and silver paint is accented with vibrant pink and magenta pinstriping, matched with custom scalloped silver flames across the hood, bed cover, and tailgate. The bed itself features a tilt-up tonneau cover and matching carpet, while the inside of the lid sports painted accents to tie into the truck’s exterior theme. Custom “Heartbeat” lettering at the front of the bed and the louvered tailgate add period-correct flair. The stance is courtesy of an air ride suspension kit, allowing the truck to sit slammed for shows or raised for cruising.

Rolling on classic Firestone Firehawk white-letter tires wrapped around period-correct chrome wheels, the C2500 blends the rugged square-body look with low-profile street style. The dual exhaust system is enhanced with a flame-thrower setup, making this truck as dramatic at night as it is in the daylight. Adding to the showmanship are underbody and interior lighting effects, plus a dual gas tank setup for longer runs between fill-ups.

Inside, the custom touches continue. The cabin is exceptionally clean, with painted and pinstriped accent pieces that carry the exterior theme into the cockpit. Chrome mirrors, billet details, and coordinated colors give the interior a cohesive, high-end show truck feel. Even without being wild or overdone, it’s clear the builder took pride in both style and presentation.

This C2500 is more than just a truck, it’s a rolling piece of 1980s custom culture. Whether it’s headed to weekend shows, cruise-ins, or simply out for a spin on a sunny day, it’s bound to turn heads and draw a crowd. How would you put this bold GMC to use?

If you were building your own custom square-body today, would you lean toward this ’80s-style show look or go for a more subtle restomod approach?

As soon as I saw 2500 and a short boxI I said no way! But if memory serves correct. There were some “heavy duty” 1/2 tons that Chevy called 2500. Just like Dodge had some B200 vans that still used 5 lug (5 on 4.5 bolt pattern) wheels. I would not swear in court to this but it rings a bell. But I would at least expect 6 lug wheels.

Weird. I don’t remember there being such a thing as a SWB/6′ bed 3/4 ton squarebody. The only 6′ beds I’m aware of were on half-tons. Unfortunately, the VIN doesn’t carry indicators for wheelbase. The 1985 GMC pickup brochure neither confirms nor denies the existence of a shortbed 3/4 ton.

3/4 tons also had 8 bolt wheels, these are mighty small for an 8 bolt rim.

The VIN says “C24” that means 3/4 ton to me. So I’m saying 6 lug wheels light duty 3/4 ton.

Luckily, they don’t have their name etched into windows, or painted above the doors. You know what they say about one man’s custom…

I had a 2006 Chevy 1500HD.Crew cab short box with 8 lug wheels, and 8,600 GVWR (3/4 ton territory) . So the manufacturers can call their trucks what ever they want to.

VIN does say C2, indicating a 3/4 ton. An in person inspection can reveal if the VIN number on the frame matches the title. An owner either shortened the frame and swapped on 1/2 ton suspension/brakes/wheels, or found a 1/2 ton short wheelbase chassis to place the cab on.

    Seller, a C2500 is typically a 3/4 ton with 8 lug wheels. And a GVWR of 8,600 .
To satisfy everyone here please submit the GVWR and the number of wheel lugs. “I” say 6 hug wheels and 7,200 GVWR.

Wayne the Gvwr is between 8,000 and 9,000 it has 5 lugs
Yes the miles is 100% legit and original miles the title even shows that as well.

I don’t believe that this truck is all original. That high of GVWR and 5 lug wheels is not something even GM would do. I suspect a non- original cab on a 1/2 chassis. It doesn’t make it a bad truck. Just a 2500 cab on a 1500 chassis. I’VE BEEN KNOW TO DO STUFF LIKE THAT! But! I know better than to load it like a 2500 series truck. I’ve built (in the order bank) and ordered too many trucks to know that 5 lug wheels and over 7000 GVWR don’t mix. (And also not safe) Just my experienced humble opinion.
