BF AUCTION: 1993 Toyota 4X4 SR5 V6

Bid to: $4,500View Result

When we think of Toyota pickups, this is the exact truck that comes to mind, graphics and all! The 4X4 SR5 is an icon, with a history of being incredibly durable and capable of going just about anywhere, while also being surprisingly fun to drive. Few vehicles run for as long as these trucks do and even fewer hold their value like an SR5. This two-owner example is being offered as a Barn Finds Auction and is located in Jonesboro, Arkansas. While 128k miles might not seem that low, for one of these trucks, it’s barely broken in! So, if you’d love to give this truck a good home, be sure to bid below.

The seller is this truck’s second owner and the previous owner was a relative, so it’s been the same family from day one. The first owner purchased it new off the showroom floor and the seller has lots of memories of going for rides with their cousin in it. They attempted to purchase it on several occasions, but their cousin had no interest in selling. Then at 86 years old, they decided to surprise the seller by gifting it to them. It’s been well maintained since new and as was only driven around town during both owner’s time with it. It’s said to run and drive great, but the seller needs a larger truck and can’t justify owning three vehicles, so it’s time to find a good home for this Toyota.

This truck is about as well-optioned as you could get! It’s the top-level SR5 ExtraCab with the 3.0 liter V6, automatic transmission, 4 wheel-drive, A/C, locking differential, sunroof, electric door locks and windows, and it even still retains its original optional Toyota running boards. Toyota offered a variety of engines, including several 4-cylinders and the 3VZ-E V6. While the more common 22R inline 4 is a great little engine, having the V6 is a big plus. The additional horsepower and torque make for a more enjoyable driving experience in modern traffic while still being efficient and durable.

Looking this truck over, we see a few flaws, but the biggest issue we see is the driver’s seat upholstery. The side bolster is worn, which is a common issue with these trucks. The rest of the upholstery looks to be in near perfect condition. A replacement seat cover would have this interior looking like new, but we would be inclined to just leave it alone and drive it!

There are a few dents and scratches here and there, but overall, it looks quite straight and solid. The seller states that it’s rust-free, never been off-road, and is all original. When they received it, there were a few oil leaks at the main seal, the oil pan gasket, and head gasket, which they had professionally repaired. It also has newer Yokohama Geolander tires on the factory 15-inch wheels. This truck is ready to go and just needs a good home! If you have any questions for Mitch, please leave them in the comments. And be sure to cast your high bid!

    Post the detailed maintenance history.
    Post pics of the underside.

The 3.slow paired to a slushbox is probably not considered to be a “big plus,” but the apparent condition certainly is.

I’ve already requested additional photos from the seller. Hopefully, we will have those soon! It really does appear to be in great condition, let’s just hope the underside looks as good as the top.

How hard would it be to convert this to a manual?

For a truck that has never been off road, that seems like a lot off low branch damage on the truck bed. Nice truck either way.

Damage to the back of the cab from items loose in the bed as well. This truck was used to haul/work, and not too carefully with regards to damage resulting from errant items.

Is the seller willing to take any actions necessary to ship this truck to the winning bidder, as long as I pay all associated shipping costs?

Nothing better than a no reserve auction to show the true value of a car and fetch the best price. Drop the reserve?
