Cadillac offered some incredible cars in the late 1930s and early 1940s. Their big 4-door sedans were some of the most impressive, spacious, and luxurious cars on the road. This 1938 Cadillac Series 75 (Model 7519) is partially dissambled, but the removed parts are with it and ready to be loaded up. Since the title has gone missing, the seller is offering it as a parts car and without a reserve. It’s located in Corpus Christi, Texas, and comes with a bill of sale. There are a lot of good parts here that could keep one of the few remaining Model 7519s on the road.
The Series 75 was offered in several body styles, this one is the 5-passenger sedan. While not the rarest of this series, with just 475 built, it’s still quite rare. With the front clip off of the car, it’s hard to capture just how stately this car could be. It appears someone took it apart to go through the engine, but the project stalled, and it’s been parked ever since.
Inside, we find a dirty but surprisingly intact interior. The seat upholstery shows some stains but doesn’t appear to be damaged. Boxes and loose parts are on the seats and on the floor. Hopefully, the boxes haven’t damaged the upholstery. The center dash panel has been pulled out but appears to be lying on the car’s floor. There are definitely a lot of good parts here that could be easily be reused.
The engine is currently out of the car and on a pallet. It’s partially disassembled, which gives us a better look at the internals of this 346 cui V8. Being a Series 75 means this is the higher compression engine, which was rated at 140 horsepower. The engine will most likely need a rebuild, but these were incredibly well built engines and with the crank and pistons out, at least you know it isn’t seized up.
Getting a title wouldn’t be simple, but it almost seems like it would be worth jumping through hoops to get it titled. The body looks solid, the interior is all there, and there can’t be many left. Of course, if you already have one you are restoring, buying this one for the parts would make sense and would likely save a considerable amount of money over hunting down individual parts. At the end of the day, we would rather see it get parted out to save other cars than to be left to deteriorate, so if you’d love to do something with this Cadillac, be sure to bid. And if you have any questions for the seller, leave them in the comment section.
“with the crank and pistons out, at least you know it isn’t seized up.” That’s funny.
Put an LS in it!
Overused and boring comment. Even if a joke.
You aren’t considering that he may actually mean it. Richard, you are just misunderstood!
Getting a title in some states is easily done but my question is – where do you park it and has the post office assigned it it’s own zip code?
The original 346 was a flathead, which this is not. Not sure what engine that is in the picture, but it’s not a flathead. I’ll bet the original engine is the one in the background of the picture.
This car should never have been taken apart. Hopefully whoever gets it will just put it back together and just drive a nice original car. That interior is so nice.
Assuming parts are available, this looks like a fun resto project.
The engine in the background looks like a Caddy Flatty. The engine featured is not a flathead as previously mentioned.
Is that a V8 emblem on the trunk lid ?
I just saw a 7519 in an old Chester Morris Boston Blackie movie the other day. They are such an impressive stately vehicle…..as this one once was. It’s a darn shame that someone began this and couldnt finish it. Reminds me of the old saw……’.never start something you can’t finish’…..which I myself am often guilty. Hopefully a very energetic and well heeled person will buy this and get it back on the road.
Old mate just sold his ’38 Lasalle , very rare Australian built RHD , all original , unrestored in great condition & runs like a clock
For any Sirius bid to tranpir need to see condition for front sheet metal be Sirius
Could you repeat that in English?
Now before you come at me with pitchforks and torches,, I say restomod it. At least you can still keep it on the road to be enjoyed. I’m
thinking maybe a 500 cube V8 and a
T400 auto tranny for power. Then add an electric power steering unit and some vintage heat and air to round it out. I mean look at it. If all parts are there as claimed, you have the makings of a really great car. Just sayin’…
If only I had another life time it would be in my barn!@!
Looks like the bidding has ended. If I’m reading it right, someone got it for $1200. After the puzzle is put back together, someone will have a real nice car.
Hopefully, that will happen. Can’t imagine it being parted out, which would be a shame.
agreed Phill, but 3/4 of the pic here do not show on my screen
(inc every avatar on yours/the comments)… This would not bea parts car…
