This isn’t something you see every day, the Easter Bunny with an Impala SS! This is said to be the original owner and his car last year. The seller says it has had only two owners until 2013. That could imply it hasn’t been driven since then. He says it’s the original color and it’s a real SS. Have a look at the listing here on eBay and see what you think. The VIN provided is only 10 numbers and there’s no letter to identify the manufacturing plant, so just like this might not be the Easter Bunny, there’s a chance this isn’t a real SS (well, I don’t think so anyway). Could it really have only 26,000 miles on it? The Buy It Now is $21,9oo which is reasonable according to Hagarty and NADA if it’s a real Supersport. It’s located in Morris, Connecticut so if it’s original it was really treated well.
It’s got the grab bar like a real SS and the shifter looks like a 4-speed plate. The upholstery is an original pattern and looks similar to the interior of original cars like this one pictured on Hemmings. The upholstery in the driver’s seat looks OK but it’s wrinkled like the padding is failing.
The underside looks great, especially for a car that’s lived in snow country for 57 years. There’s no thick layer of black goo hiding rusty bits. It must have either not been driven in the winter or have been completely restored.
This old Chevy certainly looks nice but could it really be a survivor with only 26,000 miles? The underside certainly makes it look that way. It certainly looks like a nice car but it would take a lot more pictures to even make it probable and a close inspection in person to know for sure. Wouldn’t this be an incredible car if this is really a low mileage Super Sport? Could that be overspray over the “Impala SS” badge? But gee, it sure looks nice! I wanna believe! How about you?

Ad says 327. I’m thinking if it were a 409 it would be priced much higher. Still not a bad price if it’s “real”.
No engine shots is a minus. All caps and misspelling bugs me in a ad, proof read please. If it’s real and a 409 4 speed it’s a deal just inspect in person before putting down that non refundable deposit.
Driver’s door gap appears to show hinge wear not consistent with a 26,000 mile car – IMHO.
I think this guy is a savvy seller. He never mentions the word “original” when referring to the mileage, just that it has 26,000 miles.
This seller has over 1,200 items listed, he should know the need for detailed up close pictures and a thorough description.

I agree with Steve R. Why list a car with such a claim with out good pictures? Makes me a bit suspect.
I believe the hub caps are from a 1964. A 1962 SS car should have the full disc with a three bar spinner. Also, I think the dash grab bar on the passenger side should be red.

I’m guessing the car is real and the ad reflects the seller’s belief that the car sells itself. Ok so I’m an optimist. The bunny picture is just asinine and the lack of an engine shot is inexplicable. That said, he is a seller of Chevrolet related parts …and lots of them…..sometimes whats not said speaks louder than any words could. Still I’m happy its on the East Coast!

It should have a sun tach on the column, I believe the seat inserts have a grain that is not ’62 SS, the carpet is not correct, wrong seat belts, but the SS engine turned chrome is correct. IMO it just cannot be a 26k car but probably an SS.

4 speed cars came with a Sun tach, mounted at nine o’clock, on the left side of the column. 62’s had “salt n pepper” carpet, not solid red, the seat inserts should be pleated not a weave pattern, and the seat belts are later plastic buckle belts.
The heat formed pleats of the seats, usually split with age, and carpet wears. I’m guessing that at some point in it’s “26000 miles”, someone replaced the split seams in the seats with that weave pattern, and replaced the worn carpets. Maybe as an Easter present?
I would like some close ups of the body by the back of the rear window. X frame cars were famous for cracking the sheet metal there

SS was just a trim option, hardtop, 327 4spd is ok for cruising nights, don’t get too excited. IMHO $22k is all of it.

Today you seem to see these old cars either with these dog dish/poverty hub caps or you see whatever was the top option factory “mag” type wheel available.
But I recall that back in the day we mostly saw full wheel covers, with each model have multiple different full wheel covers available. Even muscle cars often had full wheel covers, and multiple tire line options: white, red, gold, etc.

SS models 1962 all swirly chrome on the rear. Everyone wants an SS and this car shows you that they still trying to clone even after all these years. Some one hit and ran my 62 prom night and the insurance company did’t want to pay the difference in price between the Impala chrome trim and the SS trim. The court settled the case and they ended up paying twice the price with court fees..Every one wand SS’s in the 60’s
