This 1971 Pontiac Firebird looks to be a solid car and is located in Mascoutah, Illinois. The car is reported to retain its numbers matching engine and, from the outside, appears to be fairly original. The Firebird is listed for sale here on eBay with only 8 hours remaining in the auction. Currently, it is bid to $7,400 after 47 bids. You can quickly tell a 1971 Pontiac Firebird from other years that were a similar body style (1970, 1972 and 1973) because 1971 was the only year that Pontiac mounted a faux vent behind each of the front tires. It is hard to see because they are painted black but, on this car, they are in front of the red stripe.
The interior is functional but will need restoration. It appears the seats will need to be recovered and a Camaro or Vega steering wheel is mounted on the tilt column. The car also appears to have cruise control on the blinker stalk but it is probably not hooked up. The green interior looks a little weird for a black car so the original color may have been one of the three green colors offered by Pontiac in 1971. The dash is cracked and the console looks to be an original 1971 console with seat belt holders.
The original 350 cubic inch engine is fed through an Edelbrock carburetor and has also recently received a new fuel pump. Since there is overspray on the coolant lines, it appears the engine was repainted and not rebuilt. The seller also notes that the car has a custom exhaust system. The Firebird is equipped with power steering and power brakes. The front floor boards have been patched and the frame is said to be solid. The trunk pan has some rust holes in it and the paint is not perfect.
This is a running and driving Firebird that appears to have one had a vinyl roof. I have always liked the front end on the 1970-1973 Firebird, Formula and Trans Am models. This car has a rear spoiler and chrome exhaust tips. The car has old tires mounted on Rally II rims but it could be cheap fun, if you can buy it at the right price.
Camaro steering wheel, or even possibly a Monza one. Vega’s only had this style if it was a GT which had the center button in black and red.
This would be a fun one to fix-up. Nice car
Scary. This looks like a pig with lipstick, the current bid is way too high based on the problems visible in the pictures alone. Smart buyers will keep looking until something better comes along, which will at this price.

That silly steering wheel blocks the gages of ANY car it’s in. I’d rather see a very skinny ’67 16″ camaro wheel that’s full of cracks mounted in this car. lol
Does the edlebrock carb have that tiny $1.50 gas filter inside like a quadrajet would?
With no mention of mileage or owner history, I think its already over the money.
Love this style in & out. Repainted engine, patched floors, barn tires to roll it, this was ham & egged for a quick flip. What are the larger, unmentioned issues? Beware!
Look for something South of Illinois. Even though it’s near St. Louis, it still suggests Illinois rust bucket potential. Caveat emptor.
I think the column was swapped to have tilt steering , that’s why it has the Chevy wheel and cruise control blinker
SOLD for $7,500.
Good luck to the new owner, hopefully it’s nicer that it appears.

Well I guess if you want to make big bucks. Sale it on E-bay –where some get money the easy way. Where is their $7,500 worth of car hear? I have a 76 roller in better shape then this and a 77 in a hell of alot better shape. With new tires, brakes rebuilt motor and I was thinking $4,500 and get $3,500. haha
See if it pops up again due to non-payment.
