EXCLUSIVE: 1924 Ford Model T

Asking Price: $10,000
Location: London, Kentucky
Title Status: Clean

Seller’s Description: Excellent condition inside and out. Refurbished approx 15 years ago. The car was bought out of Knoxville, Tennessee about 15 years ago as a birthday present from a wife to her husband. The car had been restored by the previous owner in Tennessee. The new owner ran a body shop but never did any work to this car. Several years later he sadly passed away. I bought the car from his wife. I could never get time to take the car to shows and have decided its time to sell it. The insurance company required an appraisal to insure it. The car appraised for $17,500 at that time. It is in perfect condition and starts and runs perfectly. It has both bumpers front and rear, wooden wheels and a spare. The engine is as clean as the rest of the car. I just don’t have any pics of the motor. I have the car at London Auto Sales in London Kentucky so that it can be shown easily. I’ve only had the car since September 2016 and it had been in my garage. I need 12,500 for the car but would take less on a serious offer.

Body Condition: Body in excellent condition. It does have some small scratches around the hood where people have opened the hood and didn’t close it without rubbing it. They are small. It comes with a spare tire, wood wheels, and both front and rear bumpers

Mechanical Condition: Starts and runs very good. Everything that’s supposed to work, works good.

I think that $17,500 “appraisal” is clearly bogus, and the current ask is at least three times over reality. In my little town there’s a very nice 1926 T roadster pick up that’s been for sale at only $8000 for a couple of years now and an open pick up has got to be more desirable than a coupe.

I think the market for these cars has passed, although it does look like a very nice car.

It is a very nice car and should be preserved as an historical artifact. I know there was once a very strong club presence for this and as Ken S noted the market for this may have waned. Nonetheless if someone will hold on to the shell of a 70 Chevelle SS in the hopes that someone will pay a lot of money for it, surely out there in this big country there is a younger person coming up who is interested in the middle years Model T. At least I hope so!

I too hope there remains a market, for at least some of these cars, but in my little retirement community many of the seniors “putt putt” to the market and so forth in golf carts. I’d much rather drive a “T” when I get to that age group but apparently my thoughts aren’t shared as there remains a very nice “T” Roadster pickup unsold now for two years with only an $8000 asking price and a roadster pickup has to be much more desirable than a coupe, at least here in southern Arizona, and, who would drive a coupe in inclement weather anymore in some colder part of the country??
