EXCLUSIVE: 1962 Ducati Bronco 125 (Price Cut!)

UPDATE 3/25/17 – Mark has asked us to lower his asking price to $3,500.

FROM 3/3/17 – Shortly after we featured Mark’s Gilera Motorcycle (which he lowered the price on), he decided to have us also list his other bike, this ’62 Ducati that has some pretty interesting history. You see, it set a record on the salt flats back in 1998! It’s been parked in his storage unit in Memphis, Tennessee for the past 10 years or so, and it’s time to move it along. He’s asking $5,250 $3,500 or best offer. Hopefully the next owner will get it back up to speed and set a few new records on it! If you’re interested in giving this Ducati a good home, be sure to message him via the form below.

From Mark S – This is a Vintage Dry Lakes/Salt Flats racer that set the record for its class at El Mirage in July of 1998. Ran in the A-PG 125cc class. Bike is in as raced condition. It has compression but I have not started it in 10 years Full documentation of record setting run from the SoCal Timing Association. Also have some documentation on race prep work done to the bike. A copy of the completed and signed Record Card is included. Also included in the documentation: cam specs, valve spring set up, engine assembly sheet, initial inspection and make run sheets, and the pictures of the bike in 1985 and 1992 in pre-race trim. Bike is in no way street legal. Shipping at buyers expense.

Body and Paint – It’s a dry lakes racer with plastic/fiberglass gas tank and fairings that have been dulled by being blasted by the grit at the lake bed.

Mechanical Condition – The engine turns freely and has compression. The bike is complete as raced including the last minute “fixes”.

While it isn’t a major piece of automotive history, it’s still a small piece of history and would be a blast to have! I would be torn on what to do with it though, as I would want to be able to drive it on the street without ruining any of the bikes history or look. To do so, you would have to install lights, turn signals and a mirror at the very least. If you can figure out how bolt everything on and route the wiring without damaging any of the original components, I actually don’t see any reason you couldn’t make it street worthy. What do you think, could you keep this salt flats racer fairly close to as is and still have a streetable bike? Also, would you have the courage to go flat out on it out at the salt flats?

Special thanks to Mark for listing this bike with us as well! If any of you have a classic or motorcycle that you are thinking about selling, please consider listing it here as an Exclusive. There’s no risk and as long as your car is priced right, it should sell quickly.

There is no way you could ever make that bike street legal without spending a hell of a lot of money. I would also like to know how fast it went at ELMO. 5200 hundred just a bit high 2000 maybe.

A fortune teller once told me I would die on a motorbike, this might be the one.

If the tires don’t do it, the welds on the handlebars will.

I agree, more bikes, please. In all fairness, it looks a little naked without the fairing. Burt Munro would be proud. I’ve ridden a lot of bikes, and I must say, even this one makes me nervous. Probably best to clean it up and hang it from the ceiling as a display. http://13252-presscdn-0-94.pagely.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/IMG_3931-620×465.jpg
