EXCLUSIVE: 1966 Pontiac 2+2 Convertible

You don’t see many of the GTO’s big brother the Catalina 2+2 on the road these days, especially not in convertible form. These larger cars received many of the go-fast options of the GTO, but with just 6k Catalina 2+2s sold in ’66, there aren’t many still around. Reader Erik J happens to own one of the few 2+2 Convertibles left but has decided to let someone else take it on. It’s going to need a complete restoration, but it looks solid and complete enough to justify. If you’re interested in giving it a good home, you can find it in Spokane Valley, Washington and you can contact Erik via the form below.

Asking Price: $5,000
Location: Spokane Valley, Washington
Title Status: Clean
VIN: see pics.

Seller’s Description: Very rare, convertible Pontiac.

Body Condition: Car looks like it has under 100,000 miles, but it has sat for a long time. Has typical rust in floors and some in the quarters, but really isn’t horrible!! The 421 V8 engine gone and bucket seats. The rest of the car is there though. The automatic transmission is present and the rear axle has the Posi tag. That’s all I know. It has a clean title. This could be a good project to restore, but please look at pictures.

Mechanical Condition: It’s not running as it has no motor. I have a 1967 Grand Prix parts car if wanted and would provide much of what this one will need to restore it.

The lack of the original 421 V8 is a bummer, but hopefully, the Grand Prix parts car has an engine that would work for it. If it does and you could work out a good deal for both cars, you would have about everything needed to restore the 2+2. So are you a big enough Catalina 2+2 fan to take on this project? Our thanks to Erik for listing it with us and we hope it finds a good home soon!

One of my older brothers had one of these in the early 70’s. His was a 4 speed. I’d love to restore this as a homage to him. He was the one that got me into cars. Unfortunately, he passed away back in 91. Miss him. Not only was he my brother but he was my best friend too. Wish this one was closer to me. Long haul back to southern Wisconsin with 2 cars.

WOW, Finally figured out how to post stuff. That’s mine and I wish it to get a proper home. I have been a follower of barnfinds for many years and love the finds. I still have the knack to find rare stuff like this, but I try to save them even though I don’t have time to get them finished.
