According to some experts, 1984 was one of the best sales years for third generation Trans Ams. In addition to sales of regular production models, buyers could choose from two special editions: the Recaro edition and 15th Anniversary models, like this one here submitted by Barn Finds reader Gerald C. He’s asking $6,900 for this extra limited edition, since it’s equipped with a manual transmission – making it one of just 500 15th Anniversary models built with the row-it-yourself gearbox. He and the car are located in Clarkston, Michigan.
From Gerald – 1984 15th anniversary trans am 5 speed. 1 0f 500 manual transmission vehicles. Unrestored condition. These were very well optioned cars when new, from comfort features to performance enhancements. Among the features unique to the 15th Anniversary models was this cream leather with grey cloth Recaro interior, which is showing some signs of wear but still looks extremely supportive.
From Gerald, continued: New all aluminum radiator and timing chain. Front suspension rebuilt with new shocks and struts. Eibach lowering springs with new rims and tires. Original springs and wheels come with the car. The 15th Anniversary models featured Pontiac’s L69 H.O. V8, paired to a “Ram Air” induction system that did, actually, suck cold air down into the engine bay. The 15th Anniversary models also came with the WS6 suspension and 16 in. wheels.
Gerald also notes the following: Good solid project to do a full restoration. It spent time in Florida so it has some rust as seen in the pics. The chassis looks solid in this picture, but as he has shared in the full photo gallery below, there are some rust spots. The Trans Am hails from Florida originally, and he has a clear title for the vehicle.
Among the many varieties of Trans Ams ever made, finding a truly limited production model seems like a good way to go if you’re hunting for a project. Thanks to Gerald for sharing this 15th Anniversary model with us, and feel free to contact him through the form below for more information. If you have a classic or modern project for sale, consider listing it with Barn Finds!

Call me a mulleted, Jersey Shore cheeseball, but this is a solid project to undertake.
BRB, gotta check my secret squirrel fund…
Nice ride but is that a spring mount sitting on the air cleaner.
That’s a hole in the air cleaner with a rubber gasket for the “ram air”.
Its where the air cleaner seals to the hood for the cold air induction.
Interior looks tired for a 67k car..
