Seller’s Description: This is a scares example of an American economy car from the 1980’s. With a five (5) speed manual transmission and a convertible top it is a fun summer ride. I bought it from the original owner who resides in the same assisted living facility as my parents. The owner was an airline pilot who flew for American Airlines and at 90 years old was no longer able to drive this car. I bought it in June of 2017 and have used it sparingly. I have run out of space to store it and want to move it along to someone who will continue to enjoy it.

Body Condition: The body is in very good shape for a Connecticut car of that age. The black paint responded well to a heavy polish and wax when I got it and need to be done again. There are several small spots of rust which have not penetrated the metal. Check the photo of the right rear quarter and wheel well. The convertible top has seen better days and will need to be replaced shortly. The top is powered and operates as intended. The drivers upholstery need to be replaced as there are several holes worn through it. The reminder of the upholstery is surprisingly good with only a slight stain on the passenger seat. The doors open and close easily and are in alignment. The driver’s door seems to have been repainted at some point but the prior owner could not recall why.

Mechanical Condition: The car runs, shifts and stops well. The idle or choke need adjustment as it requires one to keep the foot on the throttle until it warms up. I replaced the radiator, hoses, belt and thermostat when I got it due to age. The radio and the a/c do not work, but as a convertible I felt that was not a priority. the gauges need to be calibrated as the tachometer and the oil pressure gauge provide false readings. I have the original sales contract and dealer invoice along with many other service invoices collected over the years. The headlight covers do not open electrically but I don’t drive at night so it was never an issue. This has been a fun summer car for our family and it ti now time to move it along to someone else who can also enjoy it. It would be a great car for a young driver to learn how to maintain an old car and enjoy topless motoring.

I bought the hardtop version of this car when new. I really liked it with the flip up headlight covers.

They are really hard to find now.

I’ve always been partial to the turbo GT, particularly the coupe body. Hard to find in my neck of the woods.
