Advertised as being owned by the same family for over 30 years, this extremely clean 1975 Ford F-150 Explorer extended cab truck is being offered for sale on Craigslist in Massachusetts. The asking price for this rig is $20,500, but cash offers are also being considered. Would you turn this into your weekend swap meet rig or use it as your daily workhorse?
Ford’s 6th generation of F series trucks (“dent-side”) may be the best generation of trucks Ford has ever produced. With numerous engine, bed, and trim package combinations, you could get a truck specced out exactly how you wanted it and then look great while putting it through its paces. These may be the truckiest trucks that Ford produced in the 20th century, and they still have a significant market share in the classic car community due to the volume that was manufactured.
This Ford’s two-tone paint job immediately grabs your attention. I believe the color combination is Glen Green over Baytree Green, but please correct me if I’m wrong. This truck has the Custom trim and Explorer package, and the two-tone interior adds a little panache to the practical interior. Loaded up with a 360 FE motor and an automatic transmission, this long bed would look great towing a vintage camper. Looking closely at the pictures, it appears that the driver’s side door may have had some paintwork, as it seems to be a slightly lighter shade of green than the rest of the truck. But regardless, the rest of the truck looks extremely straight and in great condition.
The bump and dent-side Fords seem to be commanding higher sums of money these days. Do you think these trucks are worthy of these sums of money? There are strong arguments for both sides. However, this truck is a prime example of all the features the market values. Originality? Check! Highly-Optioned? Check! Rarer model? Check! That all being said, this seller is still asking over $20k for a 1975 truck with few options available to modern truck drivers today. One thing is for sure, though: you will most likely be the only one dropping your kids off in a green-on-green extended cab vintage F-150, and I think that is worth it! Check out this Ford here on Craigslist. A special thank you goes out to Mitchell G. for providing this tip!
Thank you Dusty. Very cool dent-side Ford, also my favorite generation. That might be the best example of “period-correct” paint I’ve ever seen, especially since it is two-tone. The Explorer trim gives it some additional flash. Not cheap, but it illustrates the current popularity of old trucks.
Thanks, Bob! I have a special affinity for these, as well, as this is what I drove around with my grandfather in as a child.

Sorry about that, Luki. This has been corrected
Is that a bottle jack clamped to the driver side fender underhood?
Yes it is.
As my prom date never said: “that thing is huge!”
Remember the rules: that sounds like a personal attack….on yourself! 😉
To this day, I STILL cannot understand WHY GM wouldn’t make the eminently popular square body pickups in this extended cab style? Oh, well, their loss! This one’s really sharp, and I like the color combo! GLWTS!! :-)
