Farm Find: 1966 Chevrolet C10 Pickup

This 1966 Chevrolet C10 pickup has spent its whole life doing what it was designed for: a farm work truck. The truck is still in good condition and able to get the job done. Located in Audubon, Minnesota, this Chevrolet pickup is looking for a new home and is listed here on eBay. Currently, the truck is bid to $5,100 with five days remaining in the auction. The reserve has not been met.

As with the exterior, the interior is mostly original and in good condition. I would imagine that the seat cover has been replaced and a prior owner added an aftermarket tachometer to the steering column. The truck is missing a radio or its delete plate but is otherwise clean. The seller discloses there is rust along the bottom edge of one of the doors.

In 1966, a buyer had the choice of two inline 6 cylinder engines or a 283 cubic inch V8 engine. This is probably the base 250 cubic inch inline 6 cylinder engine which has been painted lime green. The seller states that it runs but needs a tune up and a new exhaust system. The master brake cylinder was recently replaced.

As reflected above, this is a long bed truck that still retains its original blue paint with some nice patina. The body is straight and looks pretty solid. It would be helpful to have some pictures of the undercarriage. The original wood bed is still in place but has some rot. Most of these trucks had a column shift but this one if floor shifted. It looks like a great truck, if the reserve is not set too high.

Gopher Motor here in Mn is a rebuilt engine supplier. They will rebuild about any engine and they paint them green. Being this truck is inMn I suspect its a Gopher reman engine

Great friend across the street had a ’66 with a 327/4spd in the 60s, and another friend had a ’66 with 327/PG. I had a ’63 Chevy & ’64 GMC, brothers had ’65 Chevy and ’66 Chevy. All great trucks.

Based on the negative feedback, another slimy flipper. Buyer beware.

I’ve owned a bunch of these including a Panel and 2 Carryalls. I still think they are the best looking bodystyle

GONE! Damn, and it had ‘original patina’ as opposed to ‘added patina!

1966 ushered in several mandated safety features, including 2 speed windshield wipers w/washers,emergency flashers, seat belts and backup lamps. It was also the 1st year the 327 V8 was available, in addition to the 283. The base 6 cylinder engine was bumped up to 250 cu. inches from 230, as well as a 292 cu. inch option, which is what I believe this truck has judging by how tall it sits in the engine bay.

The fuel pump in the middle of the block, instead of being next to the distributor, confirms it is a 292.

My first pick-up was a ’66 C10 Custom. It came with a 283 V8 and a three-on-the-tree transmission. Mine was a short wheel base Styleside. It was a great little truck. The only downside was the coil spring rear suspension.

    It came and it went,
Someone had cash and so it was spent,
Now, there is NO money to pay the rent.

I’ve heard that story time and time again.

Nice old beater. And the price was CORRECT!

    Just sayin’ ya know?

I believe the floor shifter tells us it was a 4 spd with the Granny low gear.
