Here are the results for the final fantasy bids for the 2017 Dallas Leake Auction. Traditionally on a Sunday you can get some great deals. Check out the following prices and see how you did. Were any of these vehicles a bargain? All prices do not include fees.
1990 Oldsmobile Toronado Trofeo: $5,000
This was below the $6500 asking price on Craigslist. Congrats to my friend Bill Jeswein on his new ride.
1980 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Pace Car: $5,500
It might have looked like fried chicken, but it was very solid and complete and the turbo lights still lit up! I was very tempted to flash my bidders pass.
1968 Buick Special Deluxe: $2,100
The paint was rough, but it was a nice driving vehicle. How much more would it have brought with 2 doors?
1963 Land Rover Series IIA: Unsold at $7,250
Apparently these rugged vehicles are not bringing Ford and Toyota money. Anyone here a British enthusiast?
1942 Packard 110: Unsold at $25,000
Not everything sells on Sunday. What do you think the seller was looking to get on this ragtop? Would you have bid higher?
Thanks again to everyone who played along. I drove about 50 cars in four days and had a lot of fun as usual. Everything from six figure Corvettes to drop top Beetles was given equal care and attention. Next time an auction heads to your town, check it out and share your experience.
Interesting info Corey, thanks for the story, Mike.
The P 110 was bid to 30k on Friday. I think the peak times have run out for the junior Packards. Not special enough for the big money collectors and not part of the childhood memories for most of the rest of us. If it was very very nice in the brst colours maybe 45k?
