Finds in Oklahoma

1955 Chevrolet Tree Find

I have heard stories of the incredible number of classic cars hiding all over the State of Oklahoma. They always seemed like reasonable enough stories, but having not spent much time in the State, I had no idea whether they were true or just rumors. Well Chuck F sent me this link to the Tulsa Oklahoma craigslist and if it is any indication of the rest of the State, it is a land full of classics waiting to be saved! Even if there isn’t anything particularly valuable or rare, it looks like this could be a good place to go to see some interesting sights (like this “three on the tree” Chevy) and to pick up some parts cars.

Studebaker Regal

Alright, so not every find on this craigslist is amazing, but I really am surprised by the variety. There is a bit of everything in just about every condition. Some are running and driving European sports cars, while others are field finds that are overgrown and sunk into the ground. Chuck is personally interested in the Mercury and Chevy Woody Wagons and the ’50 Chevy Convertible. They look like good finds to me, but the Studebaker Regal Commander , the Chevy Greenbrier Van, and the Stageway Suburban are the ones that really caught my attention!

Greenbrier Van

This list of craigslist ads doesn’t really prove that there are more great finds in Oklahoma than any other State, but it certainly shows that they have an interesting mixture of old cars there! After seeing this, I want to make a trip over to Tulsa to explore its rural back roads to see what else might be hiding there. Just seeing the Chevy tree find would be worth the trip! So what finds do you see in the Tulsa area that you’d like to have?

That Greenbrier looks great. There’s been a lot of interest in these vans lately and the price being asked is a real deal. I’ve seen cars like these all over Georgia and Alabama during my 6 year ordeal down south. Unfortunately most of the cars I looked at were misrepresented, overpriced and didn’t have titles. That’s not to say you can’t find anything good, it’s just time consuming and expensive to hunt down cars out of your comfort zone.

Wow that 72 F-100 looks like a great deal for 1K, even if it does need some work. And the “immaculate” 71 MGB for 4K looks like a really good deal as well.
