Immaculate Award Winner: 1987 Buick Regal Turbo T

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

The 1987 Buick Turbo T offered a number of upgrades over the standard Grand National, and the inclusion of a number of aluminum components also helped to boost performance. This nice example is listed for sale here on eBay. Located in Carmel, New York, it comes with a clear title. At the time of writing, bidding was sitting at $15,000.

The owner of this particular Buick seems to be something of a perfectionist. The car is beautifully presented, and some items such as the wheels have undergone a restoration to assist with the presentation. The body is in good condition, as is the paint. Shots of the underside demonstrate the fact that the car is rust-free. The owner has added under-car and in-trunk bracing. He states that this allows the car to drive and handle better than new.

The interior is in keeping with the rest of the car as far as presentation goes. It appears to be virtually faultless and is 100% original. The owner is rightly proud of the fact that the Turbo T has won a number of awards, including an “Award of Excellence” at the 2018 GS/GN Buick East Coast Regionals.

Under the hood is the 231ci turbocharged V6 backed by a 4-speed automatic transmission. While largely stock and meticulously maintained, the car has undergone a few performance upgrades which include upgraded injectors, an upgraded and adjustable fuel regulator and an upgraded computer chip. These have apparently assisted with performance, but for the purist, these modifications could be easily reversed if so desired.

This is a nicely presented car that offers good performance. With only 1,597 of the ’87 model being built, the Turbo T is fast becoming a desirable car. At this stage, prices have not gone stratospheric, but they are heading upwards at a reasonable rate. Good examples are currently fetching prices of $25,000 upwards. The 1987 Buick Turbo T has all of the hallmarks of a car that is going to become a very desirable collectible in the very near future.

sweet car that’s been treated very well & loved for sure.

makes all the difference in how long they’ll look & drive as they could/should.

deferred maintenance can make a low-mile car a money trap pretty quick.

interested in knowing what the reserve is & where bidding will end up.

Why are these things popping up all of a sudden? This is like the fourth one in two months. I like them, sure. Makes me wonder why people are unloading them now.

The prices of all mid-late 80’s cars are on the rise. People with them who took care of them are either paying attention to the market or are getting offers they don’t expect. When someone offers $10-$15K for a car they like but don’t need and they remember paying $5K for they start changing hands. It happens when the market starts to rise. It’s generally short lived as buy and holds/those reliving their youth start to be the dominant holders within the segment… that’s when the true cream (the best cars) start really taking off as the inventory is dry.

Time of the year. Fall motivates those to sell who have lost storage or otherwise don’t or can’t hold an inactive vehicle over the winter. Better money in the spring but after you deduct storage fees it all levels out.

There was also a “T Package” available that looked just like this one on the outside, but had a 307 V8.

What does “the car has all the missing body mounts” mean?

Buick left out some of the rubber isolators on the bolts between the frame and body to soften the ride. Many put these in the make the vehicle flex less
