Lot of Six: Chevrolet Corvairs

There are many reasons people save their old cars, but many of the larger collections we come across are the result of hoarding. For whatever reason, these individuals feel compelled to keep everything they have ever owned. The seller of this lot of Chevrolet Corvairs has a problem with hoarding and is being forced to get rid of some of their old junk. This lot includes six Corvairs, including a Monza Spyder Turbo, a Greenbrier, and a Rampside.

Of the cars included in this sale, the Greenbrier and Rampside are in the best condition, but still need work. The ’63 Monza Spyder Turbo looks to be in solid shape, but is missing its engine and transmission. Two of the other Corvairs are also missing their motors, but would make great parts cars. Both the Greenbrier and Rampside are hard to come by, especially the Rampside, as there were only 2,000 or so built in 1963.

This lot also includes this ’63 convertible and two ’64 Monzas. The seller claims the convertible is the only one with rust, but we are going to assume that really isn’t the case. While these Corvairs are all in need of attention, they will hopefully go cheaply. It may be worth buying the whole lot just to get the Rampside and Greenbrier. The seller has lost the keys and the titles, so be sure to check into getting replacement titles issued before you bid.

That’s a car carrier full. Shipping would be up there, unless you are a local buyer. I like that plenty could be parts vehicles. My interest would be in the van and pick up.

The van and the Rampside would be my favorites, especially the Rampside. They’ve always appealed to me for some reason.

I remember being in the 4th grade and “The Weekly Reader” had an article on the Greenbrier … there were also photos of the ramp-side with a guy pushing a lawnmower onto the bed.

Owned 2 Greenbriers many years ago. Nice vehicles though a little light in the front end so steering was dicey. Worth saving, especially the Rampside.

My dad had one of the spyder turbos for awhile, and it had a problem throwing the belts. The ramp & brier are just icing on the cake,… for the right price.

I always wondered about those belts. The two way flex belt design is kind of a deal breaker for me…thought these are underrated cars in many ways.

The Rampside is the prize, but some good stuff here, well worth the trouble, except one thing. Keys and title no where to be found. That many cars without titles would be a pain not worth bothering with. States are getting tougher all the time and checking across boarders for bought titles etc. etc. They could end as lawn planters for the next owner.

THE VAN WITH THE TURBO ENGINE AND HEAD ON UP TO WOODSTOCK. I TALKED MY SISTER INTO BUYING ONE WHEN SHE GOT HER LICENSE AND IT CAUGHT ON FIRE A WEEK LATER.NEEDLESS TO SAY IT WAS VERY COLD IN THE HOUSE FOR A WHILE.

With 11 bids, this Corvair lot ended up selling for $2,125. That is only $350 per car, so seems like a bargain even if they are only good for parts.
