The 1965 Ford Mustang is far from unusual to see on the streets today, as reportedly over 400,000 were produced this year alone. However, it is quite rare to find one with only 28,000 original miles. You can find this supposed low mileage example here on craigslist with the asking price of $9,000 in Fountain Valley, California.
The seller has made a list of all the work that has been done on this mustang. At this point, it appears that all this car really needs is a new paint job. You could choose to repaint it the original orange-red color, or you could customize it a bit and chose any color of your liking. The seller says that there is minimal body damage so hopefully a good paint job wouldn’t be too costly. Then again for those who like the weathered look, you could leave the paint as is. Personally, I think that this is the kind of car that needs a shiny new paint job, but to each their own.
The interior is in impressive condition for the age of the car. According to the seller, the front seats have been replaced which isn’t really surprising. With the intense California heat the old upholstery was probably peeling. It is nice that the front seats appear to have been reupholstered well and match the original style of the car. The seller has also added a new stereo system which I believe is hidden in the glove box, to maintain the original look of the car.
With the long list of things that have been replaced in the car it seems that this car is ready for the road. This could make a great daily driver. Does the $9,000 asking price seem reasonable? What do you think of this 1965 Ford Mustang?

With those new plates I would want a complete history before laying down any money.
Why would the original owner need to get new plates.
If it is not the original owner, you can’t believe any mileage claims.
I do not see anything in the ad where the seller claims to be the original owner. The seller does claim the mileage is original at 28K and that the paint is original. Maybe, maybe not. The seller offers no proof of either claim.
What I said was the only way you can believe original mile claims is if the original owner is selling the car and he was the one that put those miles on the car.
Anybody after that doesn’t know how many miles are on the car as it is 54 years old now.
as I have said before, low miles do not add value to a car, and as a matter of fact it lowers the value as you will have to spend a lot more to get it back on the road.

$9,000 minus $4,500 for implying this is a 28,000 mile car.
I’d like to know if sellers are stupid enough to believe these low mileage claims or if they think potential buys are the ones that are stupid. Either way it cast doubt onto the entire car. The seller would be better off not even mentioning mileage in the ad unless there is documentation to back it up. Someone should tell sellers a picture of the speedometer doesn’t count as proof of anything.

The ad is over a month old, so all those Mustang enthusiasts in So. Cal are staying away in droves apparently, even though the price has been lowered.
Really unless I was intending on turning the car into a pro touring I wouldn’t be interested in the car at all. I’ve owned many Mustangs including a couple of six banger cars. Never another six. Inherent carb problems and hard to sell.
Another red Mustang. Yawn. More interested in the camper van behind it.

If that’s 28k this thing has been rode hard and put away wet many many times! Nice start to a restomod or pro touring car, but not for anywhere near $9k.

Looks like a 4 speed–that would be the brit-tish Dagenham 4 speed with glass gears., Wont take much abuse and I don’t know of anyone making parts. California car with no rust? Look carefully, it is a rustang!

If everything thing is original at 9 I am sure that he is allowing wiggle room! There is one thing that really bothers me is the cut outs on the back hat tray have been cut out and there is no way to repair it! Too bad! I believe that the paint was grabber orange, but pretty faded for sure! Definitely paint it and source a new deck panel for the hat tray! That’s just what I personally call it!

I won’t slag it off because it’s a six. There are plenty of v8 Mustangs out there.
The color is “poppy Red” as mentioned by another poster. Grabber Orange was a lot more…. well… orange.
A decent amount of maintenance work has been done to it according to the ad. Expense and time that the new owner won’t have to put out.
But seems like that, even along with the “low mileage original” claim, doesn’t seem to justify the price premium.
Well, seller thinks it has an “inline V6” as well as original paint, despite the peeling clear coat. He’s ignorant of the miles too. It’s a decent $3,500 Mustang.
The seller could just be an ignoranus, The radiator, hoses, fuel pump and fuel line has been replaced. If it runs and drives I would say about 5 or 6 K depending on the rust you may or may not find. But yeah 9K not so much.
Crappy 6 banger with way more miles. Why is the paint in such bad condition for just 28K miles on it? California car? Doubt it!
