This 1967 Chevrolet Impala project is ready for a dedicated new owner. The seller is upfront stating that almost every area of this car needs addressing to one degree or another. It can be found here on eBay with a buy-it-now price of $3,000. The car is currently located in East Providence, Rhode Island and comes with a previous Rhode Island registration and bill of sale. Thanks to Adam C. for the tip on this project.
You can see from the photos that the driver’s side of the car has obviously seen some impact damage. The passenger side is showing some rust coming through, especially around the rear quarter panels. The seller states that “It needs rear quarters, trunk floor drivers side fender, drivers door, drivers side front floor.”
The engine has clearly seen some upgrades in the past based on the valve covers and air cleaner. It is said to turn freely but is not currently running. The ad doesn’t indicate what the cubic inches are, but it is likely a small block Chevy. Hopefully, the engine will be salvageable, but it will probably take some work to investigate it further.
The interior will need to be addressed as well. The front seats appear to be missing, but the rear seat is in good shape. The dash also looks like it is in good shape and easily able to be restored.
Hopefully, this car will find a dedicated new owner who can bring it back to its former glory. Sometimes with a car like this, they are more valuable as parts vehicles. If you have an Impala project of this vintage, this may be a great parts car.
Someone will want it, but probably not at that price. I’d love to see it restored to original, instead of yet another silly hot rod.
Very ambitious project indeed. Judging from the extensive rust showing in the rear quarters, I would bet dollars to donuts the frame is rotted at the rear doglegs and likely elsewhere. That’s kinda how these things go, seen it b4.
Good luck to the buyer.
This is a small block with the GM distributor in rear .
The hardtop SS quarters are a easy fix but a shame this car on a trailer on asphalt that no one could lay on the ground and shoot pictures. This is what sells cars by letting the buyer understand what’s the repair will be needed.
I agree man of steel. See it here and other sites all the time. Shortage of photos and info. This would be a super car restored. One of my favorites.
Well the three blue dots are in good shape!
Now there’s a sad-looking Chevy if I ever
saw one! At least the guy’s honest as to
the condition of this car so there won’t be
any surprises. Just look at this poor thing! Looks like someone had anger issues and kicked the crap out of the
driver’s side while the tin worms made an
all you can eat buffet out of the passenger side rear quarter panel–and that’s not even counting what those little
devils were snackin’ on under that vinyl
roof or even the floors. As for the engine, I’ll say it’s a 327 at the very
least. Looks like someone added some go-fast goodies to it at some
point. Now let’s see here. I think I see a 700 cfm Holley carb under
that strange looking air breather. And though I’m not all that sure,
I think it’s wearing some type of Edlebrock intake man8fold under
the carb. And if the fellow that built this engine was anything like me,
there’s probably a Corvette cam in there with a set of Fuelie heads
bolted on for good measure. If I had some deep pockets, I’d be
building this one for my SIL, who had a ’68 4-door HT powered
by a very tired 327. How that damned thing made it from Peoria
to Bloomington, I’ll never know. While she and her siblings were
visiting her grandmother; I pulled the plugs and cleaned all the
crap off of them with an emery board and reset them to specs
and fixed a couple of plug wires that needed help. Then I
replaced that god awful fuel fiter with a clean one I had in.
my toolbox. When they left for home, they left in a decent
running car–and not a rolling fog machine! Still tease her
about that old Impala to this day. Oh Mike, we did get Mom’s
kitchen sink fixed temporarily. Gonna take Jack.M’s advice
and rent one of those monster plumbing snakes from Home
Depot and get the job done right!
LOL Kenneth! Keep your hands loose stud. That snake can bite you Brother. Perry Mason is on, gotta blaze! Going to look at Della! Take care. Mike.
Della Street and the cars Perry and Paul drove make this show one of my favorites on DVD. Watch old episodes on rainy and snowy days when I can’t work on cars in the shop. Perry drove Cadillacs in the first season and the last, but it was the Ford sponsorship that had him in retractables, Sunliners and Paul in T-birds. I think Paul Drake had a ‘Vette in the first season. I used to keep a journal of all the vehicles used for the location shots. Being in California, there were lots of little sports cars and of course Ford/Mercury and Lincoln products driven by the main characters.
I agree Alexander, Some great car car spotting in that show. I did see Paul Drake in an early vette, like two nights ago. Take care, Mike.
Yeah, Della Street was quite a looker back then! Used to watch her every
Saturday night after the Jackie Gleason.Show on CBS! Even though I
was very young then, I wanted her to be my neighbor! Take care Mike,
see you soon!
Common sense comes into play here. Spend more and find a much better `67 Impala to buy. In the long run, your wallet will thank you and you’ll bypass all the headaches of buying a mere shell of a car like this.
I must have missed the memo about this being rusted out overpriced Chevy week.
This car wouldn’t be worth $3000. if it included the trailer
Overpriced parts car. Spend the money and fly to a warm dry climate and start hunting.
Well, here we are again. Listing ended.
