It seems like low-mileage Grand Nationals are coming out of the woodwork lately. We just featured one with 59 miles the other day. This one has it beat though with only 56 miles on the odometer! It was stashed away by a family that owned a Buick dealership, so it’s actually never even been titled. The seller claims that the car has been parked in their barn since 1987, but with all the interest in “Barn Finds” lately they feel it’s time to sell. Find it here on eBay where the auction ends soon.
The seller mentions that every option box except for t-tops was checked when this thing was ordered. Lack of t-tops is typically a good thing if you plan to drive a car in the rain, but I have a feeling car has never been in a rainstorm nor will it ever be. The Concert Sound option might be a good thing to have though. At least you will be able to rock out while sitting in the car inside your climate controlled garage.
The interior looks clean and like new. This car doesn’t appear to have been stored in as ideal conditions as the other car we featured though. The tires look crusty and hopefully the bumpers will clean up. There are a few spots in here that give me concern too, but perhaps they are just dust smears? I would want to inspect this one in-person before dropping the kind of money it’s going to get bid up to.
Here’s the heart of the beast and the reason why the Grand National was so special. Muscle cars were traditionally fitted with naturally aspirated V8s, but emission and economy goals necessitated a different formula for fun. Turbo charging was hot in the eighties so Buick jumped in the bandwagon and force-fed their V6 engine. The result was impressive for the time and make these cars a hot item today. It will be interesting to see if more of these low-mileage GNs hit the market soon…
Looks like a hard 56 miles!
Well Trouble is they Apparently didn’t STORE it away from Sunlight and it’s Faded a BIT.
Got Mice!!
yes,
would not pay anything over 500 for them over hyped Grand National junk.
may as well buy a Buick Regal they look the same and can be had for 500.
56 miles put on a quarter mile at a time ?
The other GN, the one with 59 miles looked so much better!
Okay, I’ve looked over the pictures. Over and Over again. There is no way that this car has just 56 miles. 100,056 maybe. There’s rust on the wheels, under the hood , the engine is dirty as well as the hoses, the tires look worn, etc. I could go on..The interior looks like a 100k mile interior. Someone has put a different dash in this one or had the odometer rolled. If someone on Barn Finds wants it, they can have it. But I wouldn’t put my hard earned money on something that looks this rough and is trying to appear as something else. And I personally like the Grand Nationals. But I wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole. It screams to me a scam. Misrepresented!! Fraud!
Yea, I would agree…a very hard 56 miles to say the least. The paint on the front fender is full of checks…I doubt the whole “put away in a barn since ’87” story. Or the barn didn’t have a roof…which is certainly a possible as the 56 miles.
Those are nice finds indeed with only 56 & 59 miles on those two grand nationals, however they are not nearly close to the lowest as my brother owns a 1987 g.n with a mere 26 miles on it including all original receipts, window sticker magazine articles and winner of best of show for its class.
pictures please
I heard that these models were rare, but I guess not, since everyone apparently has one in their garage these days. Was there a buy now memo sent 30 years ago that I didn’t get?
40,000 Turbo Regals built from ‘84 to ‘87, probably half of those are long gone, and it was obvious 30 years ago these low production cars would be well worth purchasing.
56 miles a 1/4mi at a time…..
Seller says “we are willing to have it cleaned, buffed, and running like new!” It sounds like there’s an extra charge for that – regardless, you would think they would have done that before the auction.
In the description the seller states, “we are willing to have it cleaned, buffed and running like new”, which seems to indicates that will cost extra. If that’s the case, I would instantly disqualify this car from consideration. Regardless, there seem to be so many of these low mileage Grand Nationals turning up, why not wait for one in better condition.

No comparison between this one and the one with 49 miles posted a few weeks ago. This one looks like it was ridden hard for 55 of those 56 miles. Interested to see what they get for it, versus what they think that they’ll get..
It’s deja vu all over again!
The rust marks on the rims indicate either moisture has settled to the bottom of the rims from possible condenstion or from a dog peeing on them. Also note the makings of a mouse nest on the top of the AC evap box (shown in two pictures). I would have removed that at least. Makes you wonder what all has been chewed on. Lazy Sellers!!! but they are car dealers…. hmmmmm
EVERY new car dealer Knows the first thing BEFORE you offer a car for sale for TOP $$ is get it running, cked out & then detailed. I guess the owners forgot theses basics of the car business. Spend 1k or less to ensure 10k plus to the selling price. What did that other supper low mileage Buick sell for?? $85 +k?? Clean it up and get it running, and take the money out of it. Good luck.
Well, the way things are going these days, If I had ANY car I wanted sell I’d say it was in a barn. That seems to put on a price premium all by itself. Smear some mud on the tires and say it was in a barn, boom, extra $$.
If it was sitting where it photographed for the last 30 years, I would want to do a careful inspection of the underside. A lot of moisture can come up from out of the concrete. How hard would it have been to park on a sheet of plastic?
Deffinately zero care in storing this GN. I’ve seen cleaner ones with high miles on them than this one with just 56 miles on it. To think that a Buick dealer had the foresight to put one away then treated it this way is sad. Betcha their looking for top dollar though. Like a previous post said save your money & pass on this one & wait for a well perserved one to come along is someones best bet.
Who cares what the mileage is. If it looks like all the other cars that have over 100K on them, all the claims of low mileage mean nothing. The prettiest turd in the toilet is still a turd.
Well, you can polish a turd. This car, not so much.
Just looked at the Ebay ad… people are crazy if they believe this car has only 56 miles…. the paint is spiderwebbed, the wheels and tires are worn out, the engine bay is filthy and it looks like there is a crack on the right side of the dash… they were a dealer, they could slap a tag on it and drive it whenever they felt. Its so easy to roll back one of these odometers and with it never being titled would be easy to do since no record of mileage over the years… its bid up to 49k and hasn’t hit the reserve. Hopefully somebody isn’t that dumb.
Those tires have 20% life on them and are non original. Something does not compute.
Avery hard 56 miles….
Then left in a damp garag to sweat and rust and host mice 🐁 parties 🎉 where defamation occurs 😟
I had an old 2003 Camry that was my mom with 33 k. The mice crawled thru it and I removed all vents to bleach and clean . The air filter was disgusting and this car sat 14 months ….
FYI the non driving took it’s toll of engine , belts, brakes etc..
This car is needing more work …
These cars, like most from the 80’s had lots of wires under the hood. And seeing that mice lived under the hood of this car there is a strong probability that a big percentage of those wires are chewed up.
now that the grand nationals are going up in price its time for every scumbag who bought one new and had the intention of selling it after they appreciated to come out of the woodwork
The Grand National is often confused with the GNX.
I always confuse them with all the Montes, Regals, Grand Prixs and whatever other nameplate they stuck on these because in the Wal Mart parking lot they all look the same.
After looking at the pics in the Ebay listing there is no way this car has the low advertised mileage.. Something is a bit fishy here.. and I see the bid has crossed $49k.
It helps if you can read, They never said they were dealers but that they got it home from the dealer and parked it.
I don’t see the wear on the tires those are the original GoodYear Eagle GT’S
The paint was terrible on those cars, peel mobiles. There was a recall on the paint and the dealer had to paint mine 2 yrs after i bought it so this checks out also.
get some glasses
Um, Mr. Oil Slick, in the description is says “We are also a dealer so this car has never been titled to an individual…..”
Just sayin’…….
The tires have 20% life on them, front AND back. You might want to clean your glasses and re examine the pictures. Third, this car has had at least 3 owners, even the current owner wouldn’t be able to tell you if the tires were original given their state. Fourth, did you miss the piping on the passenger seat being restitched too? Good job there slick…
Never realized back in ’87 that people hid these away like a trinket from the Franklin Mint hoping to make big bucks years later. Aw shucks.
I like the “driven with pride” ones a bunch more.
I just caught a rerun of ” What’s
My car worth ” and they had a ’87 GNX, 300 miles, not a run of the mill Grand National, and it crossed the block @ Barrett Jackson/ Scottsdale for
$ 115,000. This was from 2016
How did the front of the car get those little nicks/chips in the paint from pebbles and bug, in only 56 miles?
Nah.
Wait. What is going on? The eBay auction at the end of the link shows …… 40754 miles.
Not 56.
And a BIN of $29,900
Alan (Michigan) … the referenced Barn Find Car is no longer available… the car for $29,900 is shown as a similar listing.
If the car WAS driven I can’t imagine it being plated with dealer tags for years. SO if it was never titled why does it look a bit used?
