Are you looking for a nice used pickup? You’re probably looking at a budget less than this one sells for though. But stay with me; let’s explore this truck. This 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4X4 single cab pickup is for sale here on craigslist in West Plains, Missouri.
Here’s one of the things that makes this truck special. It has only 9,952 miles. That’s not 9,952 miles per year, which in itself would make it a low mileage truck for its age, but 9,952 total miles. It is one owner that has only been driven by a senior gentleman over the last 15 to 16 years who may have not been a senior when it was bought new.
The interior of the truck looks as it should for any vehicle with less than 10,000 miles, not used and not abused. The dash, seats, and carpet look fresh off the showroom floor.
This truck has the optional Vortec 5.3 liter fuel injected engine along with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The engine bay looks as showroom fresh as the rest of the truck.
Even for 2003, this was a pricey truck. It listed new for $29,950. It has the LS Decor group which included air conditioning, power mirrors, AM/FM Stereo/CD, cruise control, and much more.
There is no rust, no dents, and no damage to the exterior of the truck. For someone looking at pickups, you may say $17,900, the seller’s asking price is a bit steep. There are those that don’t want a truck with an extra or crew cab, although probably few. To those, good luck finding a new single cab pickup, and any new full-size pickup truck now is a minimum of about $40,000. So is this the one you’ve been looking for?
This is a nice truck. It would be perfect if it were a short bed. $17,900 may be a little high but those miles are low. If they were put on in the first year then sat for the next 14, that might not be so good
These are fantastic trucks – they’ll run forever as long as the body holds up. I cherry picked an ’04 crew cab 4×4 Silverado – same LS trim with a 5.3 that was absolutely immaculate a year and a half ago. had ~60,000 original miles. Black on black.
Last February someone blew a top sign and wrote it off.. Still haven’t found an 04-06 Chev/GMC crew cab as nice as that one to replace it.
Here ya go!
Unfortunately not a crew cab, so not an option… Unless I can convince my 2y/o, 5y/o, and wife to alternate spots in the bed… Hmm .. Maybe you’re onto something!
IMO, this truck represents the last generation when GM built real “trucks”. Part of this is not their fault, an the EPA keeps pushing for tighter and tighter emissions and higher fuel economy. As for me, I will stick with my 01 2500hd reg cab 2wd with a duramax and allison. It just turned 301k yesterday. It isnt a daily driver, just a tow rig. Im “only” 47 y.o. And i hope it is the last pickup I have to buy. All my other vehicles, except my commuter are older, including 55 1st series, 55 second series, 85 Jimmy and 70 Longhorn trucks.
Yep, neither an extra or crew cab shrinks the market quickly, how the truck market has changed in 20 or so years.
Been on the market nearly a month, in a rural area, single cab. Miles/condition is stellar, but even at that the market is saying the price might be a bit high.
Problem is that these are not as economical to run or as powerful as new trucks, and too young to be classics. Best as an occassional show car tow vehicle for $15K.
Yeah…Too pricey. You can get a MUCH newer truck with 20-30k miles for that price.
Seriously?! the truck is only 15 years old, and being in a barn is not worth the space on this site….geeeze
I tend to agree this truck is a little young for this site. Just a nice used truck.
I have a 2000 same truck same condition. Similar mileage we all need to talk
Thought I was looking at Autotrader.
I agree. This truck has no place on this site.
It’s got just less than 10k on it making it kind of a barn find/time machine! I bought my 02 Silverado extended cab, that looks just like this at my buddy’s shop. Client passed, and the wife wanted it gone. I bought it because it was so clean and the price was right. It’s been a great truck. I love it.
This is a pretty tough room! All you “Debbie Downers” get together and make a list of the only cars that someone else’s website can post and get back to the rest of us and let us know how it works out for ya. In other words …if you don’t like it click along there is something else “only a click away”.
True story 🍻
Would my ’91 Siverado meet qualifications to those choosy folks?
Would my Camino qualify?
Terry, the El Camino would because you don’t see many anymore.
You can get a truck like this in every city in the country for much less money.
I bought my ’05 new and now have 53,000 on it now, I thought that is low miles. I have had to replace the rockers and the box is starting to rust through at the wheel wells now. She’s gonna rust into a pile b/4 she wears out. Great running trucks.
Just bought a 2000 Ranger 4×4 with 29,000 miles.
You have to accidentally be in the right place at the right time to find these jewels….
The question has to be asked why this truck only has 9K.
Was it a lemon and never driven?
What are the problems with this truck that will cost thousands to fix after purchase?
If you think it is worth it, please run a Carfax report and investigate it completely.
People don’t spend 25K to let it sit around. I know some people do, but it is super rare and this needs to be investigated before spending 5 times what the truck is really worth.
The question that one has to ask is, “Miguel, why do you care so much? You don’t have any skin in the game.” Don’t like this one, look at the next one. I contacted the seller and it has already sold for the asking.
Miguel has some sound advice. I used to own a used car lot & can without a doubt say that 95% of the time a low mile vehicle is low for a reason, & if not, there will still be issues from improper storage. This one has already sold. I hope the buyer & seller are both happy with the deal. But people (everyone) needs to get a second opinion & do a vin check. I am actually not a fan of the vin check companies because they are grossly inaccurate, but they can still give a hint of potential issues. Or not lol. Either way, fair deals for everyone!
Pretty much a $35k truck for half the price, if you plan to drive it out.
