Ratty Four Door: 1955 Chevrolet Wagon

1955 Chevy Wagon

This 1955 Chevy Wagon might be a ratty 4 door, but with an asking price of $1,775 might be a worthwhile project. Or maybe not, it has a lot of rust and is missing a lot of trim. It could be a decent parts donor though or a good rat rod. If you are handy with a welder, you could fix the rust issues to make it safe to drive, get the straight six running and scare the neighbors with its ratty looks. Find it here on eBay in Clinton Corners, New York. So what do you think will happen to this 4 door?

guess its a parts car for whomever has the poor financial judgement restore a ’55 4 dr wagon (and can’t afford to buy nice repro parts) otherwise, since scrap is only $25/ton, recycling is not an option, its cost prohibitive to have it hauled away

I think it would take a magician, not a welder, to get this thing back on the road.
As the saying goes…jack up the radiator cap, put another car under it, and you’re good to go.

its like finding a 1969 dime in fair condition. you can date it, and you know exactly how old it is, but there is really no value there.

I was wondering what was so bad about the car until I saw the very last photo.

Other than a rat rod gasser I don’t see much use for this one but a parts car. I hope I’m wrong.

This poor old 55 could be saved but it’s going to take a lot of fabricating to bring it back. You would have to know that this is going to be a labour of love right from day one. If it were my project I’d start by cutting out the interior pulling off the doors and front clip to see more what I had to work with. I’d than do a body off chassie frabrication repairs as well as mechanicals. After reassemble to save money I’d custom fit a new interior out of a late model wreck follwed by a driver quality repaint using single stage paint. These old 4 door wagons need to be saved too as they are part of the rolling history of the automobile.
