If you love the automotive styling of 1957, but want something a little different than a Bel Air you might want to take a look at reader Zev Y’s 1957 Buick Special! These entry-level Buicks offered lots of luxury and a 364 cui V8 in a sleek body. Zev has this one running, but it’s going to need brake work to be a safe driver. He states that body is in good shape and that he’s already redone much of the interior. If you’re in the market for something Special, be sure to take a closer look at his ad via the link below!

So does this Buick seem like an interesting alternative to the ’57 Chevrolet Bel Air? With a little work, this one seems like it could be a fun cruiser and would stand out from other American cars built in 1957. Our thanks to Zev for listing it with us. If you have a project that needs a good home, please consider listing it here on Barn Finds!

Looks like it’s going 85 when it’s standing still!
Ha! That speedometer gets stuck sometimes. It is an older car r s!
Very nice. Especially inside.
Thank you DaveMc – been a labor of love for many years. Time to let it go. Make me an offer!!
Good deal. Makes me want to put on a fedora hat and talk raspy like Broderick Crawford.
Buy it !!!
“Ten-four.”
I love the ’55-57 Buicks (and yes Buick not Chevy)The exudes style and luxury and this baby here would be a nice ride with a little tlc.
Buy it!!
No I have enough vehicles already and besides I have a Buick . A Grand National!
A Buick is a quality car whereas a Chevy is, well, a Chevy. I have owned several of both in stock form and there is no comparison.
I agree.
That baby deserves a paint job. I love the 3 piece rear window………and with the interior having been done…you’re a third of the way there! What a beauty! Again…………..thank god it is three thousand miles away.
….
That looks like a great car to enjoy as it is. Do the brakes, get any other issues/details sorted out and just drive it…..everywhere!
Before you tell me to buy it, Zev, believe me when I say I would, but I can’t right now. I have a ’70 Chevelle on my rotisserie and a ’69 Cutlass waiting for me to re-install the 455 I took out. I’m a musclecar guy, but 50’s cars hold a special place in my heart. Your Buick is calling my name……..life can be cruel.
It needs a new home. Someone that can bring her back. I have three little ones now. Work with me. I will work with you. She really is an exceptional car.
If it were a ’62 Electra 225, I’d be all over it.
’57 was one of the best years for GM – it seems all of the divisions were at the peak of design at that point. Many of the later cars became too gaudy & tarted up, like aging streetwalkers.
I love it, my dad had one in Chicago in 1971, we drove it to Lake Geneva that summer, pretty fast car at top end. He later gave it to my brother, and my mom ended up selling it when he was gone for a while. Crazy things happen with crazy parents.
I’m quite partial to cars from my birth year, and I’ve always liked the look of these…it looks like a nice vehicle.
Why only 2 pic’s with no rear view the front looks like a 56, not 57.
Here you go.
And another.
I am guessing it is a 4 door sedan with a B pillar. If it were a 4 door “hardtop” without a B pillar it would be just fine with me. A very clean design either way, but the 4 door “hardtop” was really fine.
I had one back in the day. After I thrashed my ’59 Chevy convt. bought my dad’s ’57 Buick for $125. (I was married and broke) I remember you had to step on the gas pedal to start it. It was so slow on pick up a kid on a bike could pass but OH when it got rolling,it honked. They had weak transmissions and mine always run hot.
I think that is my car! I got it three days ago.
Where did you get it? Send a picture.
