Mid-sixties GM A-bodies are really attractive cars. If you are looking for a reasonably priced example, maybe this very clean 1967 Buick Skylark will attract your attention. It’s listed for sale here on craigslist in desert dry Phoenix, Arizona at the extremely reasonable price of $5,800.
This is one of those cars that actually looks right with the vinyl top. I think 1967 was a great year for GM design, and all the A-body cars of this vintage are still really great looking cars. They perform decently, and are really fun cruisers. I think of them as Goldilocks cars – not too big, and not too small, but just right.
And this Skylark is painted in what looks to be “Gold Mist,” a very popular color for these cars. The hardtop was the most popular Skylark in 1967, with 41,084 manufactured.
While this is not a highly optioned car and features the base 300 cid V-8 engine, it looks complete and relatively clean. The seller says it’s a barn find, and needs some work – you will want to know more as the ad says it has some rust under the vinyl top. Maybe this car is not from Arizona after all.
The pictures show a very clean interior. The seller says you can drive it “as is” and that in fact, he just drove it cross country (there’s even a pic of the car motoring along out on the interstate) – or restore it. Which of course makes you wonder what work it does need to be restored.
But no matter what you do with this car, compared to some of the other more popular models from this time frame, especially the more performance oriented cars like GTO’s, 442’s, Chevelle SS’s, and Buick’s own GS, it will likely be a fun cruiser at a reasonable price for whomever buys it. If I had room in my garage, and time for a road trip, this one might be the one I’d drive home in.
Beautiful car, IMHO 1967 was the pinnacle of styling for most of GM’s cars and Buick especially. A 66-67 Riviera still looks like a custom car, almost stopped traffic when it first appeared on the streets in late ’65
I agree, 1967 was a great year for GM design department. This skylark is no exception and the ask is unusually reasonable. If the seller has a little wiggle room and a potential buyer has cash and some decent negotiating skills it could mean a great buy with this one. No mention of mileage in the CL post but sure looks like this car has been loved. The seller states its a survivor ….if we are looking at original paint and interior this must have been garaged most of its life and hopefully the previous owner(S) followed proper maintenance routines in addition to sheltered parking arrangements

This is one of very few ‘mid-size’ cars that has, or looks good with fender skirts. It’s attractive in this color too.
Nice car in a good color/roof combo. The Riviera’s little brother. I like those fender skirts. The rust in the engine bay makes me think it came from above the salt belt.
my dad had one just like this…only thing that ever went wrong with it the 30 years he had it besides regular Marianne was a water pump…damn good car… it was named…The Ghetto Cruiser…by my pops…
