Same Family Since New: 1972 Chevrolet Blazer

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

The opening bid for this 1972 Chevrolet Blazer is certainly a bit ambitious, with the seller looking for a $30,000 offer to kick things off. However, there may be some justification here as this is a single-family owned example that still runs and drives. While I suspect the big-time opening bid strategy will not work in their favor, I also have to believe someone out there will want this one badly enough to strike up a conversation. Find the Blazer here on eBay and located in Gallup, New Mexico.

The K5 Blazer is obviously a sought-after specimen, and as we talked about a few days ago with a single-owner Chevy pickup, low turnover in the ownership chain automatically injects a vehicle with an instant boost in desirability. Combine that with finding a truck like this in the dry, desert-like confines of New Mexico and you have a recipe for a rig that is going to be quite sought after. Is it $30,000 worth of desirability? Maybe not, but I could easily see $20,000 worth.

The interior isn’t perfect but it’s totally usable as is. Black bucket seats look good against the white paint, and match nicely with the inlay around the instrument binnacle. The black door panels also suggest this is an as-delivered combination but you’ll have to pull the data card to confirm. The seller notes the air conditioning did work up until a few years ago and that the transmission has been rebuilt. The Blazer will come with a new body mount kit, driver’s side quarter panel, and a bumper, which suggests there’s some rust or accident repair needed.

Rust on a New Mexico rig? That seems unlikely. The tires have been replaced in the past as well, so while the date codes are likely older, they still appear to have plenty of bite. The one big obstacle to this seller getting their price is due to the Blazer having a replacement crate engine. While many of these trucks have non-matching engines installed, there are also enough of them out there with the original mill still under the hood that a discerning collector may give this Blazer a pass. What do you think would be a fair number for an original owner Blazer like this?

Is there a briefcase with $20K in the truck? That’s the only way they are getting $30K

That’s the way the factory spring looked, a negative arc. Lift kit springs had the normal positive arc .
This thing is not worth anything near asking but….junk is going for crazy numbers these days !

The last idk how many were on here that went for 100x what they were worth. People are just insane with their prices anymore. And more insane paying it.
No matter how you slice it . IF and big IF, you can do 90% of the work yourself and most can only do maybe 30%. You’re going to have between 50 and 70k to restore a car. Higher if rare parts needed. Starting 10 to 20k in purchasing… You’ll easily be into it for 2x it’s value.

$30 large? Not even close. It’s not a CST, the SPID shows it was originally red with parchment interior, and the amount of work ($$) necessary to make it presentable doesn’t justify more than $18-20k, tops, if it runs and drive decently. Nothing special about this one.

Maybe in perfect pristine condition they could get 30k for it. This one is far from perfect. Maybe 20k if someone really wants it

It snows in and around Gallup NM
They do not salt the roads but use cinders which tend to get everywhere, so you still need to hose yer rig down constantly in the winter.
    Also,
Lot of rough reservation roads and trails around that area…
Dreamins free on the asking price…
