Back in April we featured a fun little project, emphasis on little! This Grasshopper looks like a miniature Lotus 7 but is in fact a toy. It’s a toy thought that the young at heart can certainly appreciate! Well one of our readers, who simply goes by AN commented that they bought it and are in the process of restoring it already! They are going to give it to their daughter as soon as it is back on the road (or would that be sidewalk?).
Once they moved this little 7 to their garage, it didn’t take long to get it stripped down to the bare chassis. This honestly looks like the easiest frame off restoration ever!
Actually, I’m sure it has been a ton of work to get it pulled apart and prepped for paint. The fenders and nose cone are already finished and look great in bright red.
All the metal components have been powder coated, so all that’s left is the drivetrain and the wooden chassis.
The wood has definitely seen better days, so all new panels are going to be made up. Then all that should be left is installing the motor, battery, wiring and interior. You can read more about the project here on theMiniForum. I can’t wait to see the finished product and I want to thank AN for sharing this with us. Hopefully their daughter has fun with it and it’s something that will stay in the family for years to come!
Have you ever purchased one of the finds that you’ve spotted here on Barn Finds? If so, we want to hear about it! Be sure to send us an email at mail@barnfinds.com
