  • Original LT-1: 1972 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

Original LT-1: 1972 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

By 1972, the noose was tightening around the neck of America’s beloved V8. Sadly, buyers were only beginning to grasp the scope of the misery that would define The Malaise Era. However, there were still performance options available during this model year, as demonstrated by this 1972 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible. It is a low-mile survivor, but many will view its LT-1 V8 as the star of the show. I must say a big thank you to Barn Finder Curvette for spotting this beauty listed here on eBay in Lisle, Illinois. The seller set their price at $49,988 OBO. (more…)

    No Reserve: 1964 Chevrolet Corvette

Some classics can’t help but draw attention when they hit the market, as demonstrated by this 1964 Chevrolet Corvette. It isn’t merely the fact that it presents exceptionally well following a restoration, or that it retains its numbers-matching drivetrain. Those are both effective lures, but the seller’s decision to list this classic with No Reserve guarantees that the Corvette will find a new home in a few days. They have listed the ‘Vette here on eBay in Orlando, Florida. Bidding has raced to $53,200 as the day nears when this gem will head to greener pastures. (more…)

  • Green Machine: 1972 Chevrolet Corvette

    Green Machine: 1972 Chevrolet Corvette

These ’68-’72 Stingrays are my second favorite Corvette body style, nudged out by the extravaganza of the ’58’s – chrome up to here, fake vents, quad headlights, and so on. But I digress. Today’s ’72 T-top coupe is described here on eBay as an all-original, matching-numbers survivor located in Kansas City, Missouri. The seller wants $25,000 for the car, with a “best offer” option potentially bringing that down a bit. I am not a Corvette expert like many of you Barn Finders, but join me while I examine this offering to see if we can find reasons to ask for a discount off the full price. You can add your observations in the comments section; together, we’ll form an opinion of the Right Price. Oh, and before we launch – thanks again, Curvette, for the tip!

  • Go Speed Racer! 1996 Chevrolet Corvette Mach 5 Tribute

Go Speed Racer! 1996 Chevrolet Corvette Mach 5 Tribute

The animated Speed Racer manga series debuted in the sixties, but it wasn’t until the seventies that I first remember it airing in my local TV market.  I was young and impressionable, and as this was my introduction to Japanese anime, I remember being quite fascinated with the antics of Speed Racer.  More than the character himself, what I remember most was his race car, the powerful Mach 5, as the television theme song calls it.  Kudos to whoever took a 1996 Chevrolet Corvette and turned it into a tribute, which you can own right now for $54,400, if you’re already envisioning yourself behind the wheel.  This one is located in Corona, California, and can be spotted here on eBay, with our thanks to reader Curvette for finding it and sending us the tip!
