The popular Chevy Nova compact wound down in 1979 after 18 years. The successful rear-wheel-drive car was scheduled to be replaced in 1980 by the front-wheel-drive Citation (which turned out not to be a huge step forward). The seller has a rusty hatchback from 1979 that comes with a limited story and less-than-helpful photos. Located in Appleton, Wisconsin, this “Chevy II” is available here on Facebook Marketplace for $4,000 OBO. (more…)

Two-Owner Barn Find: 1972 Chevrolet Nova
This 1972 Chevy Nova has been in a barn for 25 years. It’s a two-owner vehicle that the seller got out of an estate sale along with several other vintage cars and trucks. The compact runs well off a can of gas, but more attention will be needed since stuff goes south after decades of inactivity. A nice plus is that a 350 cubic-inch V8 lies beneath the bonnet. Located now in Cypress, Texas, this original project is available here on eBay, where $8,900 is the latest ante with a reserve still in play. (more…)

25 Years of Neglect: 1972 Chevrolet Nova
We’ve all heard the story about the little old lady from Pasadena who only drove her car to church on Sundays. Well, in this case, it’s no gag, and the owner was a little old lady from St. Joseph (Missouri), and she also drove her 1972 Chevy Nova to the library twice a week. But she gave up driving in 1999, and the car has largely been idle ever since. There is no indication if the compact runs, and it’s covered with years of dust and dirt. This restoration opportunity is available here on eBay in Blue Springs, MO, where the bidding has reached $11,099 with no reserve. (more…)

327 V8 SS Clone: 1969 Chevrolet Nova
The third generation (1968 to 1974) of the Chevrolet Nova was a very popular compact car. In 1969 alone, Chevy sold more than a quarter million copies – and 17,000+ were Super Sports. Years later, regular Nova’s would become targets of cloning as performance models because the VIN wouldn’t give the cars away – at least through 1971. This nice, driver-quality ’69 Nova is badged as an SS (but likely is not) and has an off-period drivetrain. Located in Omaha, Nebraska, this Cars & Coffee Chevy is available here on craigslist for $24,000 (another great tip brought to us by Rocco B.). (more…)

All Original: 1972 Chevrolet Nova
If a low-mile and original survivor is the focus of your classic search, it is hard to ignore this 1972 Chevrolet Nova. From its sparkling paint to its lack of rust and the odometer reading of 44,000 miles, it ticks a lot of the right boxes. Potential buyers can consider it as a turnkey proposition. Adding to its appeal is the seller’s willingness to negotiate on their price. I must say a big thank you to Barn Finder Mike F. for spotting the Nova listed here on Craigslist in Denver, Colorado. It could be yours for $20,000, although a skilled negotiator might be able to drop that figure. (more…)

600-Plus Horsepower! Supercharged 1975 Chevrolet Nova
We’ve featured a few fourth-generation Chevrolet Novas on Barn Finds through the years, and I’m often surprised by how much these 1975-79 examples sometimes exchange hands for, even base models with some having six-cylinder power. It’s not unusual for a bone-stock, mid-to-late-seventies Nova to fetch more than $10,000, but with a gallon of orange juice now selling for nine dollars at my local supermarket, I guess that’s a sign of the times. However, for my Nova money, this 1975 model here on Craigslist seems like a lot more fun and plenty of bang for the buck, offering over 600 horsepower for an asking price of $15,500. This one’s in Tucson, Arizona, and we’d like to thank reader Tony Primo for spotting this cool Chevy and sending us the tip! (more…)

Life has a habit of throwing us curveballs, sometimes scuppering the dreams of enthusiasts planning a project build. Such is the case with this 1977 Chevrolet Nova. The owner has visions of an LS-powered classic dancing in his head, but changed circumstances have forced him to shelve his plans and place the Nova on the market. The build hasn’t reached the point of no return if someone prefers a faithful restoration, although the lure of a V8 may prove irresistible. The owner has, therefore, elected to list this classic with us at Barn Finds Auctions. (more…)

Nicest One Left? 1964 Chevrolet Nova
Chevrolet fielded not but two entries in the new and growing compact car market in the 1960s. The first arrived in 1960 in the form of the Corvair with its rear-mounted, air-cooled engine. Next came the more conventional Chevy II in 1962. The latter would enjoy an 18-year run, including this nicely trimmed Nova from 1964. With just 17,000 miles, the seller’s 4-door sedan could be one of the best left at $17,900 here on craigslist. It hails from the Denver, Colorado area. Our thanks go to Mike F. for this Bow-Tie tip! SS Clone Project: 1972 Chevrolet Nova
The Chevy Nova was popular enough to sell well between 1968 and 1972 with few annual cosmetic changes. This 1972 edition sports some updates, including a 5-speed manual transmission and SS badging. However, the seller-provided VIN decodes as having a “regular” 350 cubic inch V8 (2-barrel carburetor, not what the Super Sport would have had). Needing engine and bodywork along with paint, this overheating project hails from Mountain Home, Arkansas, and is available here on eBay. $8,000 is the starting bid with no reserve. (more…)

29k Original Miles: 1969 Chevrolet Nova
We’ve recently seen a few examples of the Third Generation Chevrolet Nova at Barn Finds, and this 1969 example doesn’t pretend to be something it isn’t. It is a rock-solid vehicle with a V8 under the hood and a genuine 29,000 miles on the clock. Its needs are relatively minor, and since they aren’t urgent, the buyer could address the shortcomings as time and circumstances allow. The seller has listed the Nova here on eBay in Strasburg, Virginia. They have received no bids on an auction that opened at $25,000, but they do provide a BIN option of $42,000 for those wishing to bypass the auction process. (more…)

Not an SS Clone: 1972 Chevrolet Nova
The 1968 to 1972 generation of the Chevrolet Nova is one of the most-cloned muscle cars from that era. So, it’s refreshing when we run across one that is not a tribute, like this 1972 example of the 2-door sedan. It looks to be original except for the mag wheels, including a 350 cubic inch V8 (2-barrel as the 4-barrel was reserved for Super Sports). Located in Cincinnati, Ohio, this running project may largely only need a little bit of rust repair and new paint. It’s available here on Facebook Marketplace, and the take-home price is $11,500. Thanks, “Ted,” for yet another tip from yesteryear. (more…)

Original Paint: 1971 Chevrolet Nova 350 V8
It’s refreshing when you run across an early 1970s Chevrolet Chevelle or Nova that hasn’t been transformed into a Super Sport clone. Such as this 1971 Nova that has what may be an original 350 cubic inch V8. One with a 2-barrel carburetor which was the stoutest you could get without upgrading to the SS. Other than needing a refresh of its factory paint, this Chevy may only need a new home. From San Diego, California, this survivor is available here on craigslist for $16,500. Shame I’m 2,500 miles away! (more…)

350 V8 & 4-Doors: 1972 Chevrolet Nova
By the time the 1972 model year rolled around, the compact Chevrolet Nova hadn’t changed much in four years. In fact, it’s almost impossible to tell a ’72 from a ’71. And, yet, the Chevy had its fifth-best sales year at nearly 350,000 units. This four-door sedan wasn’t big on options, but does have a 350 cubic inch V8 to tool around in. Presented by a dealer, the seller hints at this being a muscle car and yet nothing here points to that other than the aftermarket wheels. Located in Stevensville, Montana, this daily driver is available here on eBay for $11,300 OBO. (more…)

Bare Bones Project: 1972 Chevrolet Nova
If you were looking for a smaller car in 1972 and stopped by your neighborhood Chevrolet dealer, you had two choices to go with. One was the Vega, a relatively new subcompact whose many flaws were starting to reveal themselves. And the other was the venerable Nova, which had been around for a dozen years and was a solid performer. The seller’s 1972 Nova is pretty bare bones: a six-cylinder engine, manual transmission, and no radio. It may have been sitting for years in Grand Island, Nebraska and the seller hopes to get a rather lofty $20,000 for it here on Facebook Marketplace. Keep those tips coming, T.J.! (more…)

Just Two Owners: 1977 Chevrolet Nova V8
The Chevy Nova was a popular compact car, with an incredible run from 1962 to 1979. The final generation arrived in 1975, the last with rear-wheel-drive, and was replaced by the front-wheel-drive Citation in 1980. This ’77 edition looks solid, though its second owner indicates there are some issues with the paint (that don’t jump out in the photos). Located in Chesapeake, Virginia, this well-maintained vehicle with lots of new parts is available here on craigslist for $14,950. We wouldn’t get great tips like this without Rocco B.! (more…)

SS Clone Project or Parts: 1970 Chevrolet Nova
The third generation of the Chevy Nova (1968 to 1972) is a popular one to clone as a Super Sport. They’re light automobiles that can accommodate larger engines, and the VINs won’t usually give the cars away. This 1970 Nova began life with either 307 or 350 cubic inch V8, but that was long ago, and the body and interior are quite rough. Located in Schertz, Texas, the seller admits it may be more donor than project. Which may explain why the bidding has reached just $100 here on eBay. (more…)
