The Grant Quam Collection

Grant Quam Collection

It would seem that after landing the Lambrecht Auction, VanDerBrink Auctions has become the auction house to go to if you have a large collection of classic cars to liquidate. They already have seven auctions scheduled for the summer months and while not all are large, some supposedly have hundreds of cars. These guys have managed to become hype machines, but if it helps find homes for more cars I can live with it. I’ve only been able to find photos of one of these larger collections and it is being called the Grant Quam Collection. The auction is scheduled for September 26th and will be held in Boone, Iowa. As you can see, there is at least one barn full of dusty American classics! At this point, VanDerbrink hasn’t released any additional information, but I will keep an eye out for updates!

I just had a look at the link to VanDerBrink Auctions, and altho there isn’t much information about this auction there’s some info about Yvette, even an “About Yvette” link to information about her and her family and the auction house. Looks like they are getting more and more business, with collections like this one coming up for sale as the people age and the young ones in the family probably shy away from taking responsibility for a bunch of old cars that they haven’t got much connection to.

I’m glad to see that VanDerBrink is out there ready to take on this kind of work around the Midwest so a collection can be sold properly and not dragged off to the crusher. I hope the work continues and is successful enough so that good photos and at least some description is justified for the cars in these auctions. That would give the car’s owner the best solution, and potential bidders information to go on to decide about whether to go and bid.

Speaking of hype machines, I remember when a certain auction house started having a GIANT annual collector car auction in Scottsdale, AZ. Last I heard, that concept seemed to have caught on…
