White, Green And Rusty: 1954 Chevy 3100

1954 Chevrolet 3100

Patina might be one word to describe the finish on this old Chevy truck, it probably wouldn’t be the first one I would pick for it, but to each their own! I will give it to the seller, it has a neat look to it in an old, rusty and worn out way. You can’t replicate this look and it seems more and more people are into patina these days. For those that like the idea of having a one of a kind truck with a finish you can’t replicate, find this 3100 here on eBay in Massillon, Ohio with a current bid of $1,800 and no reserve.

1954 Chevrolet 3100 Bed

It isn’t until you look at the truck bed that you realize how rusty this truck really is. It isn’t beyond repair, but it’s definitely going to need lots of work. The seller claims the engine does run though, but only after pouring fuel in the carb. It also lacks brakes, but that isn’t a huge surprise given the condition of the exterior. It’s going to take a lot to make this truck a driver, but it could be a killer shop truck or hot rod! Personally, I’d get it running and safe to drive, then worry about cleaning up the interior and bed. From there, well the sky’s the limit! What about you though? What would you do with this truck?

A nice straight ’54 Chevy like this, you fix, right down to the bow-tie hubcaps. The usual (for me anyways). Body off restoration, driver quality not trailer queen. For those who worry about an old babbit-pounder engine, this will be a full-pressure 235 with precision bearings. A good truck to fix up and enjoy…

Swap this body onto a late S10 frame with a Vortec & 4l60, install a nice interior, & daily drive it is what I would do.

I like it. It’s got patina, but it’s a different patina than all the others.

It looks like it was painted with brown latex that eventually washed off revealing the orignal white paint underneath.

I took a 55 that looked worst than this and the bed was beyond rotted, all I had was the cab, and the frame. I bought it for 50.00 bucks and pulled it out of a field. After about 3 years of work, I had it running and going . I installed a 250, and 3 speed tranny out of a newer wrecked truck, I bought cheap, I repaired all the body issues and put disk brakes all around, redid the interior and of course converted it to 12 volt from 6. the only major change I did was put a flat bed on it made out of red oak with side boards on it. I drove it in parades and took it to a couple of car shows, and one day a guy walked up to me and offered to buy it so I sold it on the spot. It was time for it to go and I had another ride I was looking for at the time.
