1929 Ford Model A “Running Gears”

Ford Runnign Gears

This one gave us a good laugh so I thought you guys might get a kick out of it. The seller claims that this auction is for an early Ford “running gears”. You have to read their 15 word description here on eBay to get the full effect though. My only question – are the lawn chairs included?

Running gear? As long as you do the running? Comes with tennis shoes?

15 years ago I found 2 Buicks in slightly better condition. Both had in line 6cyl with up draft carbs. It was common for cars to be mounted on a stand and made to run Farm equipment. Pull the body off and hook a belt to the rear wheel.

My grandpa called them Skeeters. I’ve got a 32 Chevy Phaeton(rare what’s left of it) Skeeter that he bought a long time ago.

’32/4 Model B Ford engine. ’28/9 steering column. I’d give $25.00 without the seats.

Seriously, would this be worth anything more than scrap metal value? A complete, running Model A in respectable shape is a sub-$10K car these days.

I’m not sure there’s enough here to even be worth hauling it away for free. It is pretty darn funny though.

Hello: I’d leave it posted awhile. The components shown would have more or les value to ‘real’ Model A guys. It was probably a “doodlebug” or neglected in the initial stages of construction. The price is quite steep for what’s there by the photo, but it would be a sacrilegious act to let it go for scrap. I have a few like that, in about the same condition. You might also work a trade. There is a recent interest in those machines that were stripped down and used as tractors. Search “Doodlebugs” or antique home made tractors. Good luck
