1933 Chevrolet 3 Window Coupe

'33 Chevy

There are many people out there looking for 3 Window Coupes. Are you one? This 1933 Chevrolet has been owned by the same person since 1974 and has been stored in a barn. It’s located in Galax, Virginia and is listed for sale here on craigslist  for $30k.

'33 Coupe engine

It appears that a few cans of trusty spray paint have been handled recently.  The owner was going to use this car as “a restoring project, but just lost interest due to lack of time.”

'33 Coupe int.

There are more images with the ad if you wish to review them.  There were close to 27K Coupes produced, numbers that are left and aren’t rusted through though, we don’t know?

'33 Chevy rear

There is very little information provided with the ad.  The car looks complete which is a great start for a project.

'33 Chevy trunck

There doesn’t appear to be any daylight shining through the panels.

'33 Chevy left side

This is a titled car.  The owner will not respond to texts or emails.  The $30,000 price is firm and if you have any questions concerning this car please call the owner.

Motor-on,
Robert

I think he’s atleast 15,000 over it’s real value. I sold a 36 Chrysler convertible earlier this year with a complete fresh engine rebuild, brakes, stainless exhaust, tires, woodgraining , very good interior and as rust free in well sorted turnkey condition with very nice chrome and a few boxes full of NOS parts with a production total of less than 600 cars for 38,000 after marketing it for a year.
If you have never seen one, look them up on the net. Very nice cars and no wood in the body.

I agree Randy. I know of someone who went to look a t a ’32 ford 3 window asking price $32k. He brought it home that day for $16k. It just shows that even though the price is ridiculous you never know what might buy it.

I agree with you guys. From the seller’s point it’s a lot easier to come down in price than go up. This looks like a good solid car but it’s too rich for my blood.

One of favourite chevy’s is the 1937 coupes. This is very cool, the problem is that unless you’re a upholester, carpenter, mechanic, metal fabricator, and auto body repairman/ painter you’d be into this for $60K at this price. IMHO in current condition this worth $5K tops.

Very cool find and probably not too many in this solid of condition out there and this “unmolested”. I hate to say it but this, in my book, has “awesome street rod” written all over it. Even though I am a huge restore to original guy, I am not sure this one restored to original will draw the interest or the big money that a well-done street rod would. my 2 cents. out.

What a cool old Chevy. I’ve been going to numerous car shows up and down the West Coast since the mid 70s, and you hardly ever see these, especially in stock form.

Looks like a great start for resto or hot rod(which I prefer) but waaaay too much money as it sits….

He’s asking at least twice too much for it. 1933’s still have wood frames for the body and by the looks of the trunk lid, some needs replaced. It would be worth what he’s asking if completely restored. My 1930 Chevy 3 window Sport Coupe had been in my family since new with 25k original miles. Needed all but 11 pieces of wood replaced. It had been stored exactly like this. After 4 years of restoring, 25k cash spent on it, I was finished. Of course you can buy one for around $10k cash restored. It was my grandpa’s so I didn’t care how much it cost. So anyone really looking at these older GM cars needs to check out the wood parts.

A good fabricator could upgrade that wood to 1″ hss square tubing. This is something that would be needed anyway if you were resto Modding or hot rod it. The over all body strength would be ten time that of wood.

I had a 33 chevy in 1950 and it had 3 vented doors on each side of the side of the hood. I have never seen one without the doors. I did not know they issued them with those kind of hood vents.

I think this is a rare mercury series coupe. If that’s the case then they only made around 100 or so. I would say that brings the value up a bit.

1933 was a transsition year the early 33 was built on a 32 chassie which made it 2 inch shorter and 2 inch narrower it was called a standard, the later is a master it has a110 inch wheel base a 41 inch dash they look identical other than the hood, louvers on the standard and the 3 vent doors on the master and none of the body parts are interchangeable. I know this because i built a 33 master sport coupe replaced all wood with steel it took me 10 years.

It’s way over priced.anyone that has 30k can buy a built street rod for that price.by the time you complete this car you will be out another 30k.nice car but 30k is to much money for the car.
