This Buick has supposedly been in storage for the past 16 years! It does look complete and in decent condition, but no mention is made about whether or not it has been restored in the past. The seller has pulled it out and gotten the engine running, but hasn’t done much else. They mention that you will need to address the brakes and replace the fluids before driving it. We agree with those sentiments and want to add new tires to the list. The Riviera was the top of the line Roadmaster so it deserves a look. It’s located in Carpinteria, California and is listed here on eBay with no reserve.
There’s a 5 mph bumper for ya’ (maybe 10 or 15) complete with bent bumper mounts. These cars were so heavy, the bumper jack would actually bend the mounts. ( like on my Packard) This car looks a lot like what was next to the ’56 in a barn from the other day. Sure would be a nice car when restored.
Wow a 133 bids already and over 8K, my Dad bought one of these used from a relative back in the early 60’s. It was 2 tone blue and what a tank it was, you could almost put a smart car in that trunk. I was too young to see under the hood because I never remember seeing a monster air leaner such as the one on this car. this thing will use a 1/4 tank of gas to get rolling to 70 mph then take 2 blocks to stop it and I pity any new car that gets in it’s way.
A nice survivor to me, I wonder what happened to the back seat though? I would rather have the Cuda that’s parked at the birthday party house.

Checked the specs. Engine 321.7cid. Power to weight 21lbs to 1bhp. Total weight 4600lbs. Top speed 118mph. I couldn’t find mpg. But I would guess 15 to 18mpg. Fuel tank capacity 19US gal. I think these car have great styling for there time, and would be a great cruiser. These were one of nicest cars you could own back then, and this example is very restorable. The fact that there has been so many bids so far shows that there is still a lot of interest in it, that’s not a bad thing.
I think this car is neat. I particularly like the dash. That being said, I would not want it if the price gets too much higher.

And, a dual master cylinder, brake hoses, and don’t be surprised if it needs ball joints, but these GM C bodies had the best treatment of the C pillar ever designed, Ford did it with the ’59 copied by Studebaker for the Hawks, but the GM design is graceful and doesn’t block your view.

This is the kind of car I personally like to buy, a top of the line sporty quality machine that is basically original. As one spends time and money you can see the beauty of the original design returning. Power speed and flash with comfort and reliability that’s what these cars were and top of the line cars say it best.
