1955 Dodge Custom Royal: Hemi Power

front left55

This 1955 Dodge Custom Royal Hemi was driven until the mid nineties until the transmission developed bad habits. I had a well rusted black and white one much like this one in the sixties. I paid $25 for it in Michigan and it was a great driving car. A used transmission is included with this one. It’s a very well equipped car with lots of potential. At the asking price of $3,475 is it worth reviving? After doing the mechanical repairs necessary, one could leave it as it is, perhaps put the hubcaps back on it or even fix up the interior a bit and have a nice driver. It’s in Garden City, near Boise, Idaho and listed here on craigslist.

Nice looking Dodge and minimal rust. This should be a good restoration project.

Wiki claims, the Custom Royal was the flagship car for the line in ’55. It says they came standard with the 270 c.i. Hemi. This one seems to have a lot of options, which could drive the restorer nuts, but a very rare car when done.

Garden City is part of Boise now, it’s all grown together. That said, I know there
is a few Mopar guys there. I’m sure this will get their attention.

think i remember this car, it sat in a driveway off Broadway for years. it looks like a fun project, cheap enough to get in on and unique enough to enjoy. boise cars tend to be rust free. so not a bad one to pick up.

Ironically, I was just about to email and mention this decent 56 Dodge Royal when I saw this listing. Similar car but this one looks quite sorted and ready to drive already and pretty much the same price:

This ’56 sounds like the best deal. Fix the motor mount, new tires and away we go!
