I can’t stop staring at this ’62 Impala on eBay with a Buy-it-Now of only $1,900! I know it’s rusty and the roof looks worrisome, but for the price, this looks like an intriguing project for the ambitious DIYer. The engine was supposedly rebuilt in 2006 and does run, but it will need brakes and numerous leaks fixed, including one from the gas tank (or possibly fuel lines – or both!) Personally, I dig the exterior in its current form with the hubcaps and some decent chrome still attached. Any car lacking a b-pillar always gets a thumb up from me – comfortable, arms-out-the-window cruising! The tail lights on this era of Impalas is unmistakable and the color is perfect for gator-riddled Florida. Does anyone else see a diamond in the rough or is it just…rough?

I had a set of those on my 68 K10 4×4, they played the same tune as the general lee in the Dukes of Hazzard show. I used to use them to annoy my coworkers, worked great for that purpose.
Best part are the exhaust tips. A Mexican blanket or two for the seats and I’d rock this Impaler.
Love these Impala’s. At 15 I was always admiring a 18 year old kids red & white one who worked at the local high school gearheads gas station, a DX station. That car had a 409 4 speed if I recall correctly. Yea those cheapy exhaust tips fit the period of the car, too bad their not indexed properly.
I though this might be a quick fix until I saw the rust through on the roof. Maybe just cut it off and cruise under the open sky?
The rust thru on the roof worries me. If water got in that high up on the car, what else is rusted. The seller already said the floor pans are rusted out. The price might be high for a parts car. Restoration is questionable.
Looking at that roof and considering the location, I begin to suspect somewhere in the car’s history someone enjoyed driving the beaches at low tide but didn’t bother rinsing the car off afterwards… >_<

I had this exact car in Tuxedo Black, with a cream-and-black pinstriped interior. Much nicer than this one, and I reluctantly sold it for $1,400 around the year 2000. It was a great cruiser.
This one, I’d go the Mexican blanket route and patch the floors with old Stop signs.
My grandfather bought a brand new 1961 Chevy almost exactly like this. Same color, which I can’t seem to find on the color chart. It was one of the 1st cars I remember riding in when my grandparents took us kids to Marc’s Big Boy in Milwaukee. Cars from Fla. do indeed rust from the top down, as is the case here. My thoughts on the horn tune? La cucaracha ( the Cockroach), of course.
Hey Howard that’s interesting about your grandparents taking you to Marc’s Big Boy, we had one of those in Aurora, Ill. on Rte #31 which when I got my first musclecar a 65 GTO Marc’s Big Boy was the hang out for all the gearheads. I knew California had a Bob’s Big Boy but I had no idea there was another Marc’s.
Hi JW, I believe “Big Boy” was the franchise and whoever bought one, had their name in there. In this case, Marc’s, was short for Marcus Corp., who operates a bunch of theaters and hotels now. At one time, they had more than 60 restaurants in the midwest. Marc’s Big Boy indeed became a huge cruise in place. We used to cruise the original Bob’s Big Boy in Glendale, CA in the mid-60s when cars like this were the rage. I’ve always thought the ’62 Impala was the best looking of all time. I hope it can be saved!

The ’62 is, I believe, my favorite Chevrolet, of all-time. I’d love a pillarless four-door. I’d take this colour, also. This, or the sort-of crystal green/aqua, as I call it.
