1962 Chevrolet Nova Convertible For $400!

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

This Nova is claimed to have been in the same family since new! It was a graduation gift to the seller’s mother and the mileage is supposedly correct (56k). It obviously needs a lot of work, but how could you go wrong for four hundred bucks? This was the first generation of the Nova. Well, actually it was a Chevy II with the Nova being the top model level. Anyway, find this cheap droptop project here on craigslist out of St. Louis Park, Minnesota. Thanks goes to Greg F for the tip!

I just sent them an e-mail. I hope it doesn’t go into their junk box cuz I’ll pick it up this weekend!! Even with the terrible ad I’m all in.

Someone must have wanted to make sure they got there before everyone else started calling. Hopefully you were near the front of the line already.

The C/L ad says it’s been in mom’s “care” all these years. Yikes!

In Minnesota people will actually hold things for a buyer. Kinda weird??

Actually Minnesota gets far less salt than most
Of the rust belt states. The bitter cold makes salt far less effective.

For 400 scoots, I don’t see any way to go wrong with this. There’s probably lots of tin still around to replace rusty bits if necessary, and a good metal/welding guy can do the rest.

My only question would be: leave the stock engine in it, or swing for the fences with a 350 and a manual trans.? Chevy IIs offered a lot of scope for “improvements” if that’s your thing, even though bone-stock would be just fine with me.

I love convertibles, but have to admit I’d want a coupe if I was hunting for a Chevy II. I still can’t get memories of the Chevy II that Bill Thomas — builder of the “Cheetah” — put together. That was a seriously evil machine!

Ad is already flagged for removal so someone likely got a great deal. Hope we get to see it here when it’s a driver again.

Lots of people really love these cars, myself included.
Hopefully someone just got a great deal on their dream car project. I would hate to see some opportunistic flipper get ahold of it and relist it next week…
