Only 851 Corvair Rampsides were produced in 1964, making this unique pickup not just a curiosity, but a true rarity among vintage American trucks. The example shown here, finished in cheerful yellow with white accents and listed for sale here on Facebook Marketplace, is a well-preserved survivor from the final year of Rampside production. With just 64,000 miles on the odometer, it’s described as being in good condition and is said to run great, ready for cruises, conversation, or quirky hauling duty. The truck is located in New England and is offered with a clean title. Thanks for the tip RichardinMaine!

The Corvair 95 Rampside was a clever spin on the American pickup, combining the flat, rear-engine layout of the Corvair van with a low-loading side ramp that opened for easy access to the bed. This design made it especially useful for loading cargo or machinery, and it’s one of the reasons these trucks have seen renewed collector interest in recent years. The seller notes that this one features its original 6-cylinder engine mounted in the rear, paired to a manual transmission. While specifics on engine maintenance or drivetrain upgrades aren’t provided, the listing emphasizes that the truck “runs great” and is “fun to drive.”

From the photos, the exterior appears straight and clean, with paint that shines nicely in the sun. The two-tone yellow and white color scheme is cheerful and era-appropriate, giving the Rampside a bright, nostalgic presence. The chrome bumpers and trim are intact, and the body panels show no major signs of rust or damage. The signature side ramp is functional, and the bed looks ready for light-duty use or customization.
Inside, the gray vinyl interior looks to be in good condition, with basic appointments that reflect the Rampside’s utilitarian nature. The cabin has seating for two, and while it’s not loaded with creature comforts, the simplicity adds to the truck’s charm. Rear-engine access is shown in the photos, revealing the air-cooled flat-six—a hallmark of all Corvairs.

Given its rarity and solid presentation, this Rampside should appeal to collectors of oddball American vehicles, Corvair enthusiasts, or anyone who wants a classic truck that stands apart from the crowd. While values for these models are still relatively affordable compared to more mainstream vintage pickups, the limited production and increasing interest in rear-engine American classics suggest that now may be a good time to scoop one up.
Have you ever seen one of these rare side-loading Corvairs in the wild?

Don’t see one of these this nice very often. They were work trucks and most got worked into oblivion. Nice one here.
I really like the Yellow/White paint.Always thought that
these were cool rigs (in good shape, that is).
They’re asking $24,000,& it’s located in Waterboro,Maine.
I remember there’s a business (Clark’s Corvair Parts) that caters
to Corvairs in Shelburne Falls,Mass.
Thanks for posting the price and location. Maybe you should be a writer for this site.
$24k is pretty reasonable, especially if it is solid. I’d install a Spyder dash and maybe a set of rally wheels. Cool truck!
Very rare truck. In 1964 only about 700 were built.
Saw a 1 of 1 GM prototype of a rampside amphibious. It had propeller out the back like a 770. It was painted orange. A unique vehicle.
Very nice!I would love to own this truck.
Agree that 24K is pretty reasonable, especially if in good condition. I have a ’62 Rampside and love it (had a ’61Greenbrier van while attending college in the ’70’s, and the Corvair addiction never left after that). The rarity of a rear engine, air-cooled, 20+ mpg truck sparks many more conversations than my ’63 Corvair convertible.
