1966 El Camino Barn Find

1966 Chevrolet El Camino In Barn

When reader Lucki C said he was looking for a 1965 El Camino, we went on the hunt to find him one. Well we searched high and low for a barn find ’65 El Camino, but we couldn’t find one. We did run accross this ’66 El Camino barn find though. If it isn’t what Lucki wants, then maybe someone else is on the hunt for an El Camino too. If you are, it can be found in Fort Dodge Iowa here on eBay with a current bid of $1,325.

1966 Chevrolet El Camino Front Corner

This El Camino was parked in a barn 18 years ago and that’s where it stayed until just last week. The car was pulled from its resting place and cleaned up. With all the dirt and dust cleaned off you can see what kind of shape this truck is in. The body looks clean, but there are a couple spots where the paint is starting to bubble. It’s also apparent that someone modified this truck with a louvered hood and custom rims. The paint looks good, but after looking at the trim tag we discovered this truck was originally painted white.

1966 Chevrolet El Camino Engine

This El Camino is powered by a 327 V8, but we don’t know which performance specification it is, so it could produce anywhere from 250 hp to 300 hp. We also don’t know if this is the numbers matching engine, but we do know the transmission is not. This truck originally had the Power Glide, but it has been swapped out for a 350 transmission. The seller hasn’t started the engine, but it turns freely and all the fluids look good.

1966 Chevrolet El Camino Truck Bed

We wish the previous owner would have left this truck original, but we are glad they kept the original rims. This truck should make for a straight forward restoration project or just a good driver; let’s just hope the reserve is set low enough for it to be a bargain. If Lucki doesn’t jump on this El Camino we hope someone else does.
