1967 Corvair Monza 500 With Only 20k Miles?

front left

This Corvair is a well optioned car and the owner claims it only has 20,000 miles. The few pictures provided do make it look really nice. It’s said to be a nice running and driving car. A closer look might give one a better idea of the truth behind that mileage claim. It’s located in New Windsor, MA and is listed here on craigslist for $5,900.

For some reason I expected the price to be higher. I think this will sell quickly.

Those SFB wheels are a deal beaker; few people with a genny 20M car would spoil it with crap like that.

You’d be surprised what people do to suit their own tastes, even on low mile or rare cars.

I’ve seen 4 door posts before but never a 4 door hard top. Nice car reasonable price too.

GM went really out on a limb with a 4-door hardtop compact. I can’t think of any other compact that was ever done in a 4-door hardtop. Can anyone remember one?

Looks really sharp! Something about the two tone maybe that seems to hide its four doorness.

always thought the styling on the ’65-’69 Corvair was timeless, even the 4 dr version looks truly handsome, bet you got a lot of attention with one in your driveway in ’67

my favorite body style from the 65 and up models of Corvair. The first car I restored was a 65 4 door hardtop. automatic with the 110 HP engine, and a pushbutton radio. Dark turquoise with a white vinyl interior. This body style is difficult to find, especially with air conditioning, but I have come across a lot of very rusty ones on northern states craigslist. the prices on e-bay are more in line with a barrett-jackson auction, however most do not have the A/c that I have to have for Oklahoma summers.

I bought a Spyder coupe the first year they were out. 63? Our daughter was born in 65 and so the Spyder was replaced by a Dodge station wagon. Very sad to see it go.

Just “missed” the car, or the “accoutrements”?

One of the best looking four dor designs ever to come out of the General. I had a ’65 maroon 2dr 4spd coupe with the 140 engine. Nice car, but an oil leak resulted in fumes in the interior. My favorite is the Corvair Corsa 140 convertible in Malibu blue with the white interior and top. Piper’s GF had good taste in cars.

I had a silver ’63 Spyder convertible with a 4-speed. It came from Michigan and had zero rust. Drove it all summer around LA, then sold it when the weather turned cold, since it needed a top. Nice, fun car indeed.

Wait what? A Californian bought a rust free car from Michigan?

Yep. This was in 1969, so it might not have been an original Michigan car.

Hard to forget a turbo, My first car was a hard choice. Nice big shiny ’64 Bonneville for $400.00, or a shiny black Corvair, 150HP turbo car for $500.00. I bought the Pontiac. Shoulda, coulda, woulda. How cold does it get in L.A in the winter time?

You’re right, it’s hard to forget. Only trouble was, I only had the car a week or so. It belonged to a friend who had just gotten out of the army, and drove the car from Fort Gordon, Ga, to Long Beach, Calif. He got into trouble with the courts over traffic tickets and needed quick money, so he had me sell the car for him. I got $400 for it and sent him the money. It was silver with a blue interior. Of course, I would love to buy it back today.

Yes, it gets cold in LA.. It’s not all beach bunnies, surfer boys, movie stars and palm trees! If you live by the beach, it gets down to high 30s at night, with lots of humidity, fog and morning dew. We lived in Orange County, and I was never so glad to be out of that dreadful weather.
