1968 Dodge Polara: Impressive Survivor

d2

This example of 60’s American wagon glory is a survivor with a claimed 34,783 miles. It certainly doesn’t look like it’s been driven more than that considering how good the original carpeting and upholstery look, but I’ll let you be the judge. The ad here on eBay claims a long list of maintenance recently completed, including draining and cleaning the fuel system, a major tuneup and carb rebuild, and new brake and front end components. There is some minor rust on the right passenger door and tailgate. I’m hoping The paint is the original color but has been repainted once. And, as the seller notes, even the power rear window works fine. If you are thinking about picking this one up, its being sold from Woodbridge, Virginia. Would you add this huge wagon to your fleet? Let us know below!

    In a New York Second…

As to the originality of the paint “The Polara was repainted many years ago in the original color,”

Looks like heater hose ????? connecting the brake booster to a vacuum source, looks kinda collapsed too, but otherwise a nice looking long roof.

This is on the DC Craigslist as well.. It had been up for months with no photos and an asking price of $12,000. He’s now changed it to “trade” and it has 18 photos

Again I’m on the wrong side of pond for this one but if I was there I would love to have it My Dad bought a 67 just like this except his had the 383 (with 7 kids at the time he needed the hauling capacity) he kept it till the late 80’s Might forward this to my brothers maybe they can pick it up and give it to him for his 83rd birthday this fall He is always lamenting the fact that he misses rear wheel drive cars.

A ’65 or ’66 Polara wagon sold in San Diego at an internet auction to benefit a local homeless shelter for five grand. About the same condition and I thought that was a bit much…but then I’m cheap

Aside from the Chevy Suburban, I think these were the biggest wagons you could buy. My old man had one similar, and I’m pretty sure he’d stack 10 sheets of plywood in the back (with the suspension bottomed out) These cars, I feel, were the best Mopars ever. Not the most economical ( some sites say 13 mpg, even with the 318) but if you wanted to schlep the family camper, ( or plywood) this was it.
