It’s no secret that K5 Blazers are booming right now. Their popularity is increasing and their prices are skyrocketing. They are large and gritty and everyone wants to get their hands on one. The mileage on the example at hand is unknown. It is for auction on eBay. The bidding ends Thursday, November 19th.
The paint was reportedly redone during the original purchase of the car. Allegedly the dealership offered the owner a discount because the color he wanted wasn’t available so they just repainted it. Currently, the paint is in rough condition. It appears that the clear coat and undercoats have faded significantly. It seems as though some rust is present throughout. This would be a very extensive exterior restoration project for the K5’s next owner.
The interior of the Blazer is finished in what appears to be its original black. It is in better condition than the exterior but the seats absolutely need to be refinished or restored. It would be a shame to see the classic embossed seats go, so if they are too far gone to be repaired, it might suit the next owner to try and source another pair from a K5 for the vehicle.
A V8 engine once sent power to the wheels via an automatic transmission. The vehicle does not run and is currently a rolling shell. Clearly, the engine bay needs a significant amount of work to be restored. The next owner has the opportunity to put an engine from a doner K5 into it or put something more powerful. Overall, this is a very big project to take on. Having said that, it is likely this non-op will sell for more than many fully operational vehicles for sale on eBay due to the K5’s increasing popularity. If you want to invest in this Blazer bid on eBay before the auction ends.
Looks like it’s been sitting since the 70s!
That rust in the wheel openings and doors is only on the surface and indicates a whole lot more they don’t show you. Learned all that tearing my 8 month old ’72 to stop rust in the doors, rear fenders, under the rubber mat inside, and the seams in the hood.
Current bid $14,600 still hasn’t cracked the reserve and it doesn’t run.that is a lot of money for to many unknown issues but I also haven’t kept track of what this would bring fully restored because I learn more towards getting it running and driving then go play
It appears that the repaint was done over old oil change stickers. What is it, 4 speed or auto? Agree with Troy. Get running and safe. Go play. Also $15000 is crazy. Where is master cyl or linkage for use of clutch?
