1976 Chevrolet C30 Crew Cab Dually 454 V8

At 20.5 feet in length, this one-ton 1976 Chevrolet C30 Crew Cab Dually has a big 454 V8 under the long, louvered hood, and if you need a perfect vehicle for your child to use for their driving test, this is it. Parallel park this beast and you’ll be set for life. It’s posted here on craigslist in Wenatchee, Washington, and they’re asking $11,000. Here is the original listing, and thanks to Tony P. for the tip!

Chevrolet offered yellow as a color option for the 1976 C/K-series pickups, but we don’t know if this one was originally this color or not. The interior looks sort of a reddish color, I think, so I’m assuming yellow was a repaint, but who knows, and really, who cares? All that matters is that it’s solid and the seller says it’s solid.

Speaking of the listing, this is one listing that we hope you click on and read. I can’t quite figure out parts of it; it’s almost like an inside joke to someone, and the rest of us are out of the loop, but maybe you can decipher it. We do know that it was “built to be a stock car hauler” 20 years ago, but what that consisted of is a mystery. It looks pretty nice overall so far, no?

Here’s where more than a bit of sketch (as the kids say) (kids = anyone under 40) occurs: inside. It’s a bit of a mishmash here with super faded bits and ripped fabric on the non-factory seats in front, but the armrest looks like new. The steering wheel needs help, and it looks fairly rough overall inside. The crew cab seating area in back looks great and has to be more comfortable than what was probably a flat vinyl bench seat.

The engine is Chevy’s optional 454-cu.in. OHV V8 (a 350 V8 was standard), and this one would have had 245 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque when new. We don’t know if it’s been modified aside from the air cleaner. It’s backed by a three-speed THM-400 automatic sending power to the rear wheels, and they say it runs and drives, but you’d better trailer it home until you can go through it. Would any of you need a big, powerful hauler like this ’76 C30 Crew Cab Dually?

Not much has changed since ’76 as most of the truck makers are still putting out big trailer haulers like this one. The race tracks we go to are filled with rigs like this. If this big guy is solid I’d say it can still pull a semi huge load to any track in the country.

This old Chevy has a lot of potential. I’m going to agree with Scotty that this isn’t the original color. I’m guessing black judging from the lower metal dash and door jams. It must’ve been something else with a red interior. This was as good as it got in the 70’s with that 454, before diesels took over as the reigning torque champions in pickup trucks. I’d love to see this one restored. Back to stock. I read the ad Scotty. And I agree. Its unique.

The ad is hilarious. “Tires are old enough to have a sizeable 401k”

I don’t care for modern 4 door trucks because they’re everywhere. This era I like because if somebody had one they were a serious hauler/worker/etc. They really stood out back then.

    It looks gigantic.
So run gas station to station on pump gas. ⛽️ 😜

I used to live in a recreational town in the late 80s and every one had dually back then for boats and camper trailers.
Those were the days with lower fuel and water skiing on weekends 😉

We certainly think alike, pal. I agree, or some kind of road/utility construction. This was the definition of “crew cab”, as it took the “crew”, back to construction sites, and most likely pulling something. Diesels were not yet popular with smaller trucks, and the 454 was the best they had. I don’t remember seeing many crew cabs in public, and surely not duallys. Since municipalities generally aren’t concerned with fuel mileage, I read, single digit, gallons per mile pulling something. It has very limited uses as is.

The ad was definitely worth the time it took to read it. That’s a compliment.
Cool truck in its own way. I have no earthly use for it but I have no doubt that it will sell.

Great truck, and perfect opening sentence. If you can parallel park this, mom’s Toyota Avalon should give you no problems

I had a 73 regular cab 3/4 ton Pickup back in the late 70s and it had a 454 in it. Best gas mileage I ever got with a fresh tune-up and running no AC was 9.9 mpg. It never did hit double digits. It had two fuel tanks and it used them.

I have a 1984 Chevy C30 crew cab dually with a 454 V8 7.4 liter 4th of July special with dual electric radiator fans and dual exhaust plus dual battery setup with Edelbrock Rochester Quadrajet carburetor #1901 which is better than a Holley with Edelbrock #1935 divorce choke on Edelbrock #2161 dual plane intake manifold with a Turbo 400 transmission and a Dana 70 rear end with 4.10 gears and that’s big pimpin right there. I would have bought yours but your tailgate is missing the 5 lights and that’s not proper in my hood.
