1980 Ford Fiesta With A Truckload Of Parts!

1980 Ford Fiesta

The seller of this Fiesta has owned it for over 30 years! They obviously loved this little guy because it’s in great condition and the sale includes a “truckload” of NOS and used parts. It may not be your typical classic, but these have a small dedicated following who appreciate them for what they are. This one could end up being a great deal too with bidding starting at $500 and no reserve here on eBay. Just be sure to being a truck to haul all those spares. Thanks goes to Jim S for the tip!

Bidding is already up to $2,000! Talk about a basic, no frills car!

Repainted in 2005, but that is a very nice Fiesta. I’d be bidding if I was local and could inspect it personally to ensure there wasn’t anything going on under that respray.

The interior is a bit hammered. Never thought these would cost 2 grand.

I had the xr2 version when I lived in England and it was faster than heck. This ones a bit tame on the performance side but a cool car none the less

Was garbage when new. It certainly is no better now. He’s hoarded parts for this thing to keep it running.

My new ’81 Fiesta S was a great little car; very durable, reliable, quick and fun to drive. Excellent MPG. I traded a ’79 Grand Am with V8 and ’79 F100 to buy the Fiesta so I could save the money for an engagement ring and marriage; still married! I’m glad my initials are not “DA.”

Fun fact! The alternator from the 1980 Ford Fiesta is a perfect upgrade for the Triumph TR6 convertibles.

I would guess DA has never owned or driven one of these first generation Fiestas. They are great runners and great fun to drive. These were made in Germany and are not like the later Asian made Festivas. I’ve had a several of them starting back in the early ’80s and my kids learned to drive on them. They are quick and economical, getting 35 MPG with ordinary driving. Parts are easy to find and there are owners and enthusiasts groups online for help when needed.

Someone always has to leave a negative comment. I had a 79 with 200,000 miles on it when I sold it, it still ran great. Not a Highway car but they were a quick little lightweight car. I like this one.

It goes to show, if you look after a vehicle well and long enough, you won’t lose all that much. Any vehicle it seems these days.

I had twin 79 Fiestas, his and hers, both yellow. The fwd and narrow tires made it an amazingly capable machine in the snow but as we discovered on a country wide trek, the heater is not capable at -20. We put on every piece of clothing we brought and nearly froze.

I would’ve hated it but given the peppy engine and ultra light body it was way too much fun to give up.

Factoid: If you slide the seat up and lower the back seat you can fit a full size washing machine on its back. Just don’t drive 300 miles like that. My back still hurts.

the engines had pretty good potential for upgrades, IIRC. I started auto-xing in the mid-80’s and there were a handful of these at the club and SCCA regional level. Darn quick when set up right.

That was a very good buy! These have been close to my heart since their first year. A good friend of mine was killed in one by a red light runner in the late 70’s…..
